We are getting married by a rabbi, who is not charging us for his services. We'd like to make a donation to a charity of his choice. What would be a good amount? I was thinking $500...does this sound too little? Too much?

Same here!!!! WE are having an interfaith wedding (so i guess its harder to come by a rabbi and priest), but the funny thing is the rabbi is chargin 800 and the priest doesnt charge anythign, just requests a donation. But how can we give himm less than 800, if the rabbi is asking for that?!?!? Very weird...

Very interesting how it works. My rabbi is not through a temple ,so I kind of understand the need for payment, he is providing a service ( for one hour, 750!!!) but still...

Re: Going rates for officiants
Sounds fine. We had a rabbi and a priest at our interfaith wedding. Rabbi was 750, priest was 500.

Yeah, I certainly dont have my own rabbi. My parents are somewhat observant, they actually belong to a temple.
I'm great!! Surprisingly calm, considering my wedding is in 3 1/2 weeks. Maybe it just hasnt hit me yet? How are you doing?

My FH belongs as well, but it is an orthodox temple, in which i responded with HELLS NO ( even though he eats bacon, but thats another story) , we are going to have to find a new temple !
That is so good you are calm ! I think it is important to remain that way, I have faith that everything at the royalton will run smoothly!
I am calm as well , 5 more months , it is going by so quickly!

Is your FH orthodox? So I assume your wedding will be kosher...mine too.
Yeah, that might be part of why I'm so calm....from everything I've heard about the Royalton, thats at least one thing I dont have to worry about.
It will be here before you know it...it does go fast!

My FH was raised orthodox, but does not practice as he used to.
The wedding will not be kosher . it is an issue for his mother ( who is kosher) , and kosher meals will be available for the few guests who are, but 95% are not kosher( including me and my family) . I am not jewish' enough' for her son . sigh....
