Going to 8 RH's next week! Suggestions?

Going to 8 RH's next week! Suggestions?

So, I have off next week and want to make the most of it!! I would love some suggestions for more places to look at if we've missed any.

FH and I have agreed that we want a water view, but not beach themed (both mine and FH's first weddings were on a beach), we don't want it to be a boat or yacht feel either. We don't want a lot of marble (FH doesn't like it), and we don't want it to be a typical catering hall type of feel either. It has to have an outdoor ceremony area (pref with a natural water view), and an indoor backup plan WITH windows. The food has to be incredible and the service has to be great. FH and I have very different styles though and he fell in love with The Foundry but for us to put everything together would be way out of our price range. He loves stuff that has great architecture (like the Vanderbuilt Museum for pictures which would be a possibility if we book at Thatched Cottage (which we loved since the moment we walked in there!).

FH wants to look at as many places as possible though to be sure, so we will be visiting Flowerfield, Vineyard Caterers, Fox Hollow, Swan Club, Leonard's, Riviera of Massappequa, Larkfield, Westbury Manor, and possibly Old Field Club.

I visited Watermill and it wasn't really the type of feel we were looking for (I wasn't crazy about the food either), and FH didn't like Jericho Terrace, Giorgio's, Majestic Gardens or Verdi's when he looked online.

Or price range tops out at about 65-80pp for a Mon-Thursday night in the summer (flowerfield and vineyard might be too pricey, but they wouldn't tell us over the phone) Also, most of our friends are self-employed so we definitely want a week day to cut costs.

Any suggestions? Or has anyone heard anything bad about the ones that we are currently visiting?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you looked into Chateau La Mer? It's definitely a nice place on the water. Also, Thatched Cottage is on the water and has a very unique feel to it. Both are about in your price range.

I went to a wedding at Vinyard last year and they did a lovely job.

Also, look into Waters Edge in Long Island City.

I don't know if they have a ceremony area, but what about Lombardi's on the Bay in Patchogue? I was there when it was Louis XVI, and the space is beautiful

Thanks for the suggestions!

There was something about Chateau la Mer that I didn't really like. I think it might have been the palm trees. Not sure. We love love love Thatched Cottage and it could be the one, but FH didn't want to book the first place we visited.

I haven't heard of Waters Edge, but we'll check it out!

I've been to Lombardi's on the Bay and it is gorgeous, unfortunetly, my first wedding ceremony was on the same dock and that definitely would not work. FH mentioned there is a Lombardi's on the Sound that we might check out.

Thanks ladies!

What about San Souci of Sea Cliff? It's across the street from the beach.
See my album for pictures.

There aren't many Water's Edge brides on here of late but I'm getting married there in July and it was the only place of its kind I found (I was set on waterview and windows too). I didn't realize how picky I was until I was looking for RH! If you want a waterview, this is it because you are on the East River overlooking Manhattan. I live in Manhattan and don't know many water view places on LI unfortunately....

Coindre Hall in Huntington also has a waterview though--very beautiful architecture.

Wouldn't hurt to add Woodbury Country Club to the list since you will be visiting Fox Hollow and CHCC. Its on the same strip, maybe 1/4 mile from CHCC.
Good Luck.

Some of the 09 brides got married on Lombardi's on the Sound, check their reviews out.

Maybe Danfords?

What about Gurney's in Montauk? I went to a wedding there and it was gorgeous.

Other than Woodbury Country Club that was already suggested. I'd add Lands end (dont know if thats far from u ) and Majestic Gardens.

def check out Land's End! not sure the pricing tho for midweek

Vineyard Caterers I think quoted me 100pp for a friday night- I got the prices over the phone p.s. I told them I lived in NYC and didn't want to take the drive if it was out of my price range

what about the Harbour Club?

FYI Larkfield Manor I have heard all good things about but there is no water/water view nearby....OFC check out one of the reviews on the Brides' Review Board (I think it is 'My Brown and Blue wedding' or something similar)-she gives a review of the food though that is important to know before booking).
I agree with PP...def check out Land's End (not that I'm biased or anything, lol). They are the sister RH to FF...it has everything you seem to be looking for: waterview, outdoor ceremony area with waterview, service and food are awesome , and IF it rains it is still beautiful inside with huge windows. As a matter of fact that was one of the contributing factors in our choice of RH...we wanted a beautiful RH inside and out in case of rain. I know that they are much less on a weekday (our BM told me that and also that Thursday night weddings are all the rage in the summer, and all their Thursday nights were booked for the summer we got married. Wed nights in the summer they are not open for weddings bec they do their lobster banquet dinners.)
If you have any q's feel free to FM me!

It's true Larkfield Manor doesn't have a waterview only a gazebo witha bridge by a pond.
there is a park sorta close by water that some girls use for pics tho.

I have pics in album and also slideshow in video lib of Larkfield which might help you. People there are wonderful, oodles of great food and I think it's a pretty place with nice outdoor areas.

I was going to suggest The Thatched Cottage but they were like100pp for a Friday night in November, so I don't know if it will be in your budget.

Hope this helps!

Thatched Cottage gave us a great deal for a Thursday night reception and they are our top choice as of right now.

We've added Westbury Manor to our travel plans. They have a cute babbling brook which brings back so many childhood memories for me. Cute!

You can also check out the Venetian Yacht Club...that is on the water.

I know that for a Friday or Sunday OFC is $110/pp before tax/gratuity...I've heard of them doing less for a modified menu, although they may do less since its a weekday wedding.

You might want to check out Giorgio's in person. The website doesnt do it justice. In fact, I thought I would hate it and wasnt even going to go and look. But on a whim, I drove out there by myself one afternoon and fell in love.
