Going to a party and need some help...

I'm going to a surprise 30th birthday party at Giorgio's for one of my co-workers. It's a Saturday night in October. I can't wait! Please give me advice on two things:

What should I wear? It's a nice place, so I would think dressy, but it's not a wedding...

Any ideas for a gift?

I always wear that 'little black dress' for this type of occasion...

For the gift I would give a gift certificate or something personal if you know them well.

I have an idea for the perfect dress (it's in my closet!) that you could wear. It's black...It's sort of un even along the bottom...And it's off the shoulder on one side...It's lovely...And perfect I would think for what you'd need it for.
What size are ya?

Also...Gifts...If it's someone you're not too close with, I would stick to GC's for restaurants, sporting goods stores or department stores...And even a gag gift or something...If you know the person pretty well, try to think of something you'd think they would like personally.
Also, personalized gifts are always neat...

Thanks Kel! You're too sweet. I wish I could fit into a dress of yours!! I do have a little black dress that I am considering. I guess I was afraid that might be too dressy, but it probably won't be.
