Going to a wedding How Much?

Hello ladies!

Yes I'm full of questions this week...next weekend I'm going to an ex-coworkers wedding...Sunday Afternoon at the Gatsby, second wedding.

I have stayed in touch with her and we are friends..I'll be inviting her to my wedding next year so I want to get this right...How much would you and FH give?

I was thinking $250 is that too little? or should I do $300?

I would also think that being in the bridal party you are not expected to spend as much only because you are paying for everything else - from your attire, accomodations, showers, bachlorette parties, etc.

It all adds up...I can only hope that my girls don't feel obligated to do so...because I totally understand how expensive everything is.

thank you girls for making me feel better... i just hope she wasnt offended... i mean ive hung out with her about a zillion times since the wedding and she hasnt said anything, but i suck.

and i feel like if i brought a guest i definitely wouldve been able to give her more cuz i woulda made him give me some money for it lol... i just feel like as her best friend i shouldve given more... especially because i really didnt do much for the shower... blah im a bad best friend.

No your not - it's what you can afford. I'm sure she understood your situation plus you went as 1. Don't worry about it all the time you have been there for her as a best friend I'm sure made up for it!

Last year we FH and I to 10 weddings. 8 of which we made!

Only 4 we know of so far this yr!

Tell me about it. We cancelled one of our vacations to cover the cost of these and I was in the BP for two of them and FH for 1. Thank god they were all in NY. This year I am in only 1 of the BPs (although it is a florida wedding). I was started to think about picking fights with my freinds to get out of weddings- lol.

Just think of how blessed you are to have that many friends that you wanted you to stand beside them on their very special day...

and second LADIES - I just have to tell you how excited I am that a topic I started made it to 2 pages!!!!!! I usually am the person who posts and then the topic ends??? totally made my day lol alright back to work for me

300 is good. But 250 is not bad either. It depends on your financial situation and how close you are to this person.

I say $250 -300 If your really close to each other than I will say a little bit more, but it all depends on what u can afford. Isn't it exciting going to weddings now that we are planning ours. I have 3 weddings back to back this yr & they are all like 2 wks part, it's gonna get expensive.

I have to agree with the asshat comment.. i feel like one too. Last summer we had three weddings and the two of us were only working part time. We were barely able to even afford 200. I feel like a &#^@bag :(.

I think I give gifts that are not enough . . . I didn't realize how much a plate costs until I began planning my own wedding.

We havent been to that many weddings...but for the 4 that we have gone to we gave $250. This was based on where the wedding took place (two were in Pennsylvania) and we based it on how close we were to the bride and groom. We werent that close with any of them..but I think $250 is fine
