Going to a wedding today....

I guess it would be my step-secound cousin who is getting married today and the reception is at the Fox Hollow in Jericho. It's a night time wedding, so I figured it will be fancy-ish. I didn't feel comfortable in any of the dresses I had because I felt they were too casual. Sooo, I went to Marshalls last night and spent $25 on this 'little black dress.' Only thing is that it's a size 0, which I'm not, and is totally tight in my mid section, like above my stomach and below my chest. I wore it around the house for a little while last night to make sure I'd be comfortable in it, and I am. So hopefully I don't eat too much and bust at the seams!

My dress lasted through the night!!! I guess I stretched the material out from wearing it so long and it was actually comfortable!

As for the wedding, it was really nice and simple. I realized this morning that they didn't do a lot of the traditional stuff - the bride didn't throw her bouquet, there was none of that best man taking her garter off, they gave a donation to the American Cancer Society instead of typical favors, and they didn't have all the classic wedding dance songs like the electric slide and the macarena. I actually like it better that way, and that's how I want my wedding to be. Her dress was also really plain and simple - not poofy at all - but she looked gorgeous. Since I'm doing the whole wedding thing myself, I paid attention to a lot of the details: They had some kind of shrimp for an appetizer, and SO many people didn't even eat it (including myself), so they wasted a ton of money; they had this DELICIOUS waffle and fruit thing for dessert before the cake, but so many people were out dancing that it was taken away before they got back to the table.

The only thing I didn't like about the Fox Hollow is that they had 3 weddings going on at the same time. I think it was actually 2 weddings and one quincinera (spelling?), but I prefer the one wedding at a time.

All in all, it was a great wedding, and I'm so happy for my cousin and his new wife!

It's amazing how much food gets wasted at a wedding!
