going to a wedding tomorrow at George Washington Manor

Are there any particular things that future GW Brides want me to pay attention to - or take photos of?

centerpieces? placecards?

I've always wanted to go to a wedding at the GW - have been looking forward to it for months.

It was the first hall we looked at when planning. I loved the GWM's charm and history.

Yes!!!!

I'd love to see the placecard area and the centerpieces!

And please give us your opinion of the food -- especially at the CH!!

Thanks from a future GWM bride!

I've already spoken with samnjenna in detail about the wedding - but for other future GW Manor Brides - you picked a WONDERFUL place! Seriously, this wedding was one of the best weddings I'd ever been to. . . and I actually think part of it had to do with the weather - the rain on Friday kind of made everyone even more determined to have a great time - does that make any sense?

The GW Manor is so beautiful - my FH is a history fanatic so I actually lost him once or twice - he was going around to all of the rooms, looking at the portraits of the presidents. The coctail hour was set up in the presidential room and the reception was in the big banquet room with all of the windows (I forgot the name). The baked clams were a big hit and all of the hors d'ouvres were really good.

I never eat wedding cake at weddings (I'm usually on the dance floor) and when the cake was served, my sister said 'We have to try the cake - it's good luck!' so I had a bite - and then I finished my entire piece - delicous! Vanila buttercream frosting and chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling.

The ONLY thing I'd tell GW Manor brides to note is if they are having any vegetarians - make certain there is a vegetarian entree. My cousin ordered a vegetarian entree and got a plate of raw crudite for her dinner.

So if you know there are going to be some people ordering vegetarian entrees - just make sure you communicate with the staff that you want a pasta dish or something. The bride and groom didnt think there would be any vegetarians at their wedding so this just wasn't something they thought about.

But otherwise - the reception hall is just perfect! You all made such a great choice - I'm so psyched that I get to back there in October for samnjenna's wedding!
