Going to book our DJ tonight and FI and I cannot agree

The situation could be much worse, but since I'm cranky I figured I can annoy you all with my bellyaching.

FI and I decided to book DanceJock. We saw them, love their demo, they're a house vendor, yay for us. We REALLY want the owner, Scott, to MC since he's
available for our date, but with even including a lighting package, we are $300 short of what he would go out for.

FI and I were tossing around what we can add in in order to secure Scott, but we just simply cannot agree. He wanted someone for cocktail hour at first, which I thought was a waste because everyone is mingling, I doubt they'd notice if we had a keyboardist or a CD playing. Unless the live music was phenomenal (which they do have, but I'm not willing to tack on another $900 for an hour), I doubt anyone would care about the cocktail hour music.

Then he wanted a singer for dinner. This is another waste of money I feel as they will only sing for about 45 minutes AT MOST and that's a flat fee of $600,
regardless if we get a singer or a saxophonist or percussionist which would play all night. Gah! I really don't want the singer to sing all night because this is why I wanted a DJ to begin with.

Anyway, sorry for the long rant. I'm just ready to toss my hands up and say okay to whatever just so we can get this deal done. Bleh.

My FI wanted a band for the reception at first, he insisted on it. But once i told him the price compared tot he DJ he quickly gave in to what I want. I said if u want to pay 5400 for a band then go right ahead be my guest. That changed his mind.

He originally wanted a band too, but that got squashed when he saw how much it cost. I also made sure we booked our photog first, so that he would take into consideration the amount we need to them too!

I don't think the money is the issue now, it's more-so a clashing of opinions of what's 'over the top' as he calls it (referring to a percussionist or sax player) and what i feel he wants to spend money on, really won't matter to anyone so why waste it. I dunno, I feel like I'm being so demanding, I want us to agree but it's so hard!

Honestly, I think having the dinner singer is enough and not over the top at all. The CH is over the top b/c no one will notice. Also have a percussionist is over the top and again no one will notice.

He didn't think the Dinner Singer was over the top, I just felt that spending $600 on that for them to only be up there for a 45 minutes wasn't worth the money. I didn't think CH was worth spending extra $$$ on either because no one notices. For that $600, we can have a percussionist or sax player during the reception (and they will play for most of it, which I think is worth that $600) but FI thinks it's too much and I disagree.

I dunno, I'll see how things go tonight, maybe they can work something out with us.

we just booked scott. we did the basic package but we decided to take the video screen package. we got the 2 projection tvs. my dad has seem them use the screens that was the whole reason we wanted them. If you get the video screen package u can hit 2300. that is what we are doing....FM if u have questions
