Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS

Original post by love2plan1

Hi Ladies,

Been gone for a while due to working like crazy. FH and I were discussing the fact that the bride and groom at this wedding we went to did not go to any of the tables during the reception.

Personally I didn't notice and was excited to see that they actually enjoyed their wedding. Apparently some of FH family thought it was rude.

What are your thoughts and plans about how you will still enjoy and thank your guests?

We have about 250 guests so I can see doing that all night

My cousin did not go around to the tables and did not make an appearance at CH which the family thought was rude. I mean the majority of the guests came from OOT and we didnt see her all night. She took so many freakin pictures that she was barely even at the reception.

I am going around during the guests appetizers and salad course so hopefully people will say hello really quick and move on bc they want to eat!

We're going to try to say hi to everyone during CH.

We are having between 300 and 350 people so its a lot. Our plan is to go to the cocktail hour and say hello to as many people as we can there (friends, coworkers, etc. -- people who don't mind if we eat and drink while they talk to us) then while dinner is being served we will hit up the tables ESPECIALLY older family members and my father's work people.

Our close family and friends are the ones we will mostly be on the dance floor with so saying a 'formal' hello is not necessary.

We are also having a receiving line and will be at the hall until all of the guests leave so we can say good nite and a lot of our guest are OOT and we are having an after party with them and brunch the next day.

Hopefully we can cover it all by then!

wow, i didnt realize it takes so long! scary

FH and I went table-to-table during our e-party (just under 100 people) and I think everyone really appreciated it so we will probably try to do it again. We will say hi to people at our CH, which should hopefully let us be quicker going around the tables. Also, we will make more of an effort to stop by the tables of older relatives and family friends who will probably care more than our friends, who we will be mingling with on the dancefloor and during CH.

I don't want to spend more than 45 minutes doing it though! we will prob have appx 200-225 guests

make sure you go to the main tables of closest relatives...maybe you can make a general hello to everyone on the mc and tell them to find you on the dance floor....
me and fh will be going to every table though but keep it quick and short....

I always thought it was my place to go to the couple, and thank them for inviting me. Mary

I said hello and thank you to a lot of the people during my cocktail hour but I also walked around and said hello to people at the tables during the reception too (but really quickly). I think you've got to personally acknowledge those who attended, even if it's just for a minute or two. I think I spoke to every guest (at least I hope I did, I had 165 ppl). BUT I also spent a ton of time on the dance floor..... I gotta say I danced my butt off and enjoyed every second of the party too. So ladies it's not one way or the other, you can do both!

I think my dad would flip if I didn't get around to thank all the family for coming! I do like when the b&g go around to everyone. Just make it snappy. Most guests understand that they are not the only ones at the wedding and won't start chewing your ear.

we only had 12 tables--as we had just over 100 ppl at our wedding---so it didn't take long at all to do table visits---so we went to each table and said hi to everyone just as everyone was chowing down on appetizers. got it out of the way early!

actually ive heard from a lot of past brides that they're only regret was not saying being able to say hello to some of their guests. i am going to try to make some time during CH and also go table to table to toast. its sort of a must in our family.

Yeap so this way everyone can enjoy themselves. I hate to bother people when they are eating. I will also thank them at the end for coming

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS

I would think it to be very rude if the bride and groom did not come up to me the entire wedding.
One wedding i went to that was VERY large, 300 people, they had 90 minute cocktail hour, and the people were already seated at their tables, they had the cocktail hour food on the dancefloor. And they went around to all the tables in that timeframe. Then danced the nite away on the dance floor.

I went to smaller weddings, and i got to talk with the bride and groom so much more.

well we're having a smaller wedding

and the tables are going to be pretty close to eachother all on an outside deck

so i'll be able to see every guest of my wedding from my chair.

i'll just wave and make a toast thanking everyone for coming!!
