Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
Original post by love2plan1
Hi Ladies,
Been gone for a while due to working like crazy. FH and I were discussing the fact that the bride and groom at this wedding we went to did not go to any of the tables during the reception.
Personally I didn't notice and was excited to see that they actually enjoyed their wedding. Apparently some of FH family thought it was rude.
What are your thoughts and plans about how you will still enjoy and thank your guests?
We have about 250 guests so I can see doing that all night

I'm torn about this. On the one hand I know a lot of the older people expect you to come around, but with almost 200 people it's gonna take a long time. And trying to cut it to 1-2 minutes never works. I have fam who could talk for an hour. So I guess ultimately we're going to do it. Good idea to do it when the dinner is served, cause I want to be able to enjoy dancing and such.

Newlywed crashing but......
It's a lot less painful then you think....I promise!! While at first you are kinda like 'ughhhh I have to go through this whole room'.....we did it right as some meals were coming out.....literally we did the whole room (200ppl) in about 20 minutes.....
People like getting to talk to you......it's cute how excited they get when you both come over to the table
(I wish I could do it again haha)

Yea from the weddings I've been to, the bride and groom get served first. So you eat real quick and then walk around to the tables while you're eating. And I guess you don't have to 'go around' to everyone. You'll be hanging out with 1/2 the people on the dance floor. I plan on going over to some of our older relatives and some of our parents' friends.

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
Well we had 275 at our wedding and we went to coctail hour for 20 minutes and didn't make a dent. We didnt go to any tables at the reception and we had the bes ttime ever... we didn't leave the dancefloor and we enjoyed eachother... its about you and your husband.... My advice is do what you want! There were people saying goodbye that id idnt even say hi to... people may think its rude but u get married once and the reception is only 6 hours! Enjoy every second doign what you want to do. Noone said a word to me or DH about this after the fact... the only thing people said was that we looked like we had the best time ever!

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
I would like to try and get around to most of the tables. At a recent wedding FH and I went to the couple went to most of the tables and they had about the same amount of guests that we expect to have.

We're going to have a receiving line at the church and attend our CH for this reason....
We want to enjoy the reception as much as possible!! I just hope ppl dont come up to say goodbye as we're still trying to enjoy our last few dances! I hate that!!

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
We're going to have about 50 tables, so no, we're not going to be able to make our rounds at each table or CH, and we're pressed for time btwn ceremony and reception. Hopefully we'll figure something out, but not sure what.

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
we had 15 tables (about 165 people) and we greeted every guest and thank them for coming. We try not to make a conversation - just a simple 'hello and thanks for coming' so we ask our wedding attendant to grab us every 2 minutes.
If you don't feel like doing this, try to greet your guest during cocktail hour....just to make them feel welcome.Whatever you decided always remember not to make a long conversation and make sure you ENJOY your wedding!!

your best bet is to talking to everyone as they leave the ceremony. you know saying thanks for coming thats they best way. but If FH wants you to go around the tables the best way is to arrange to eat dinner first. so when everyone is sitting down eating you can go around ask everyone hows there dinner and thank them for coming.

Newlywed Crasher
We thanked about 80% of our guests for coming to the wedding during the cocktail hour. We then only had to go to a few tables during the reception itself. It was wonderful. My advice don't spend too long at each table. People understand you have to say hello to everyone.
Make sure you say hello to everyone no matter what you decide to do. When I went to my cousins wedding she spent almost the entire evening saying hello to people (yet somehow missed my table)

we are going to the CH but we are still going to each table during the reception
IMO it is incredibly rude not to and i know that 90% if my guests would be offended
not the popular opinion, i know - but they got dressed up and came to your wedding and gave you a gift - say hello and pose for a picture with them and move on
i have never seen it NOT done but then again i have a pretty traditional group of friends and family members

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
I plan on saying a lot of our hellos and thank yous after the ceremony at the church. I know we won't get everyone and I do not plan on going to my cocktail hour so I will go around to a few tables during dinner because I know for a fact that my family doesn't care about this. So we will only go over to the older people on fh's side to say hello at the reception
