Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
Hi Ladies,
Been gone for a while due to working like crazy. FH and I were discussing the fact that the bride and groom at this wedding we went to did not go to any of the tables during the reception.
Personally I didn't notice and was excited to see that they actually enjoyed their wedding. Apparently some of FH family thought it was rude.
What are your thoughts and plans about how you will still enjoy and thank your guests?
We have about 250 guests so I can see doing that all night

try going to your CH and saying your hello's there so this way you can just enjoy your reception

I personally wouldnt not do it.....i find it rude but thats just my opinion, most likely you wont be able to see every single guest at your wedding, so youre best bet to see them and thank them for coming to your wedding is to stop at the tables.

We're going to all the tables (no card box) but only because we're having under 100 guests. We feel it's a nice touch to go around to everyone. But if you're having 250 people, there's no way you can go around to all of them, and still be able to enjoy your wedding, unless you have an 8 hr reception. My friend who got married last weekend had 140 people, and they went around, but it was just a quick 'hi, thanks for coming' and then they moved on.

Thanks for your responses ladies, just food for thought, we plan to do it just didn't know how we would go about it.
I didn't notice at their wedding because we were having so much fun. I think the CH is a good idea

we are looking at 200-225 people. so that 20-25 tables. the trick is to eat when you are served your dinner, and than after you are done, start with the tables in the back and work your way forward. when we you are taking a break from dancing start again. you only have to spent 2-3 mins at each table. as long you are making the attempt, no one has any reason to be upset.

We're planning to do something similar...we're expecting about 200-250 guests too

Ok, this may seem rude...but we're thinking of doing it. We're going to stop in at the CH and see some people. Then we're going to start going to tables...make sure we make it to the important one..Family and close friends. But then once we get to a certain point, the Dj or Photog is going to 'require our attention', so we won't have to go to all the tables. We have 250-300 guests and it's just too much. A lot of them will be our parents friends..It's hard. There are soo many ppl and we don't want to be rude..but we don want to enjoy the wedding. Not sure if we're doing this yet..but we might.

I always thought it was a nice touch. FH and I will have to go to all of the tables (it's a tradition) to have a toast with them (nothing too long). We're having a min of 250 ppl, so it'll be tiring but fun. It'll also give us an opportunity to hopefully get pictures with almost everyone at the wedding which I really want

the only reason why i think it is important is that i know many of my relatives young and old wait for the bride and groom to come to give them the envelope. My mother is young 45 and she waitys to personally giove it.. Makority of teh weedding i have been to and i have been to 6 in one yr they all go to each table briefly.

not everyone goes to the church though, but most make it to the reception (at least in my family they do)

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
I went to a wedding about a year ago, and during the dinner portion of the reception, each table was asked to gather around the bride & groom at their table, and we had our photo taken...but then we didn't see the bride and groom for the rest of the night!
I have mixed feelings about that...on the one hand, i think it's a nice way to compose a nice photo, but then you take guests away from their food and make them go to the bride & groom table...I'm used to the bride and groom going to each table, so it seemed strange to me

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
We had 16-17 tables (about 160-170) people and went to each table. DH and I agreed we would go to each table, but he wanted long, private, and meaningful conversations with everyone at each table whereas I wanted to balance talking with people with having a bit more fun. If you and your FH do this, agree on how much time you want to spend at each table.

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
I went to a wedding where the bride and groom didn't go around from table to table and spent the majority of their time in the bridal suite! I hardly saw them the entire time, I literally only saw them while they were eating and during the firs dance! Before that, I wouldn't have cared, but now I think it's kind of rude not to go around..but that's JMO

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
We plan on having about 300 guests. My plan (have to make sure FH is on the same boat as me) is to make my rounds at cocktail hour. We will say our hellos chat it up with everyone, this way when we get in we can dance. I have also thought about doing a little something to say thank you after the best man/maid of honor speeches.
Most of my family seems cool with it, and maybe if you start breaking it to them now. I mean with 30 tables...2 mins at each table (which is NO time at all)...that's still an hour gone out of my reception. If I spend 5 mins, because there are a few people at each table...thats 2 1/2 hours!!!!! That is just crazy.
I say if you want, say hello at cocktail hour, and get his family used to it. Have him present it that way...that if you spend this much time that is less time you can spend enjoying your wedding.

Re: Going to every table at your wedding? YOUR THOUGHTS
Im totally going to my cocktail hour for this reason (well all the amazing food is a big reason too.. i dont wanna miss out) lol
Im going to try to get around to saying hi to everyone so when my reception comes I can be on the dance floor the whole time. If I miss anyone they will know where to find me
