When you go to the store, they usually have a list of what you should get. but you could always go online to the store you're going to and look at their suggested list first. Which store are you going to?

Have fun!!!

look at the list and cros out what yu do not need, and dont do it all in one day it jonestly gets to be too much. I brought my FH and realized that he made the process more difficult cause he wanted to rush and just pick anything, so we picked out what he was interested in together , and then at a later day i brought my friend Lisa who already owns a house and is married and she gave me some great tips and enjoyed registering with me, she made the process so much more fun

Be careful....if it's discontinued...DON'T register for it. I registered in January for October and all my stuff on my Macy's registry got discontinued. I had to get rid of it and just keep LNT. Just make sure to find out if it's discontinued. Good luck and have fun.

I would definitely agree with not trying to do it all at once. It can become overwhelming. I would also tell you to just go and look at a few stores to choose which ones you want to register at. I think I changed stores a few times...I started out at Bed Bath and Beyond and Macy's and then changed to Crate and Barrel and Fortunoffs. Most stores will give you a list or if you look any of the bridal magazines there are usually articles on registering and they have helpful lists.
Good Luck And Have Fun!!!

Be careful - i registered in April and 1/2 the stuff we picked out was discontinued by June. Towels, shower curtains, bed linens, etc. are all seasonal!

I have had bad experiences as a guest buying presents at Macys.

My registering advice is to not let anyone tell you you 'have to' register for anything. We didn't register for china and many people are like 'you have to have wedding china' and I wanted to tell them to bugger off!

We registered online first - put things in the registry that we were interested in seeing in person...then narrowed things down from there once we got to Fortunoff and C&B.

Definitely bring a bottle of water and something to snack on...and don't try to do everything all at once.

Best advice I got was go with your FH the first time...they get real bored and then go back with you mom and finish up

Also, don't register for towels, shower curtains, etc till you get closer to the wedding because all stores discontinue stuff.

I found the best places to be Fourtuneoff, bed, bay & Beyond and Crate and Barrel..

I can honestly say that if your FH doesn't care about shopping or home stuff, don't take him. Mine hates stores. Only goes when he needs to.

it is so funny my FH usually hates to shop. but since it is for our wedding and our place he seems to want to go. I hope this is true.

Tip #1 Don't, and I mean DO NOT let FH get his hands on the scanner. it's too much like a video game gun...he'll og nuts and never let it go..he always tries to 'zap' me!

Tip #2 Heed Tip #1

I LOVED registering. I agree, wear sneakers and dont try to do it all in 1 day. I registered first for basic kitchen stuff, then went back for formal dinnerware, and I still didnt do bedding or linens. Have an idea of what you want or need so you dont wander the store for hours looking at everything. Go to stores whose stuff you like. If you change your mind about an item later, you can usually go to the stores website to alter your registry.

HAVE FUN!!!

I registered for things that I knew I didn't have to see in person online w/ fortunoffs & LNT. It's been so easy this way. I'll go into the store with FH and mom soon to pick out the rest.

Take advantage of your computer...Have you ever seen fortunoffs on a sat/sun?? SCARY!!!!

Ok, thought i would give you all a good laugh - Here goes, when FI and I registered at Macy's it was all so overwhelming. They gave us that little zap gun and off we went. When we were finished for the day, we went back to speak with the woman who helped us, she looked at our list and said 'why are you registering for only 2 place settings?' 2 I said, no way, that's a service for 5, so if we order 2 then we have enough for 10!!!!! Oh my god, it was way to funny when we found out that a place serving for 5 was actually a place setting for 1 person. Laughing my *** off now about it. I guest you can say my FI and I were like the blind leading the blind. Hope you find this as funny as we did. He- He - He

Re: Going to register this weekend any tips?

My fh was bothering me about the wedding planning from the get go. He never wanted to shop around for anything ex: dj, photo etc . Once he liked something, that was it, there was no talking him out of it. So finally I told him he was in charge of 'cups and ice' at the wedding thats it!!!! lol lol

We registered this weekend at target and linens and things. I dont want china or crystal so we found everything we needed at those two stores. he was dying to scan all of the things but I was gritting my teeth with some of his color selections or weird things he wanted ex: a water cooler etc... I let him have his fun , I went home and fixed all of the lists online went I went home. He will never remember what he originally wanted by the time I have my shower (nect summer).

good luck

Cute story. I probably would've done the same thing though. I did mine online though
