Going to start looking for a dress

Going to start looking for a dress

Sorry to crash your board ladies but you guys would probably be the best to ask... Where should I go to look for a dress? Where should I stay away from? I know a lot of girls have said that they had good customer service up until the time they ordered but then the alterations have been a horror show. I'd love any advice! TIA!

I got mine at Paradise Bridal. I thought they had great service. I didn't get my alterations done there though.

I got mine & my girls dresses at Adrienne's. They were amazing. I was very satisfied.

My advice, which is what I did, is to check out the brides review section and write down certain salons that girls raved about.

Re: Going to start looking for a dress

stay FAR FAR AWAY from Adriennes!

You can read my review, but in a nut shell, they made me cry hysterically two days before my wedding and I had NO DRESS in my possession! They said , it was a busy weekend...WHICH I am SURE It was! HOWEVER, that is why a good business PLANS...there was a MOB and another bride (getting married the day after me) in there with similar problems...
there were still problems with the alterations and we forced them to rush and get it done-they wanted me to pick up my gown the day before the wedding-I DONT THINK SO!

They are great when you are going to look and buy....BUT thats about it!

The owner Maryanne is NO GOOD!

Re: Going to start looking for a dress

I found my dress at RK Bridal in the city. It's better to go there when you have somewhat of an idea of what you're looking for. They have a very large selection which helped me since I would go through all the dresses in a bridal salon and not like any. I actually ordered my dress from Burton's bridals because their prices beat everyone elses. Good luck!

Re: Going to start looking for a dress

I got my dress and my girls dresses at Macy's in Smithaven Mall. I was very happy with the service there and the dresses all came in very quickly. The alterations were also done very well and we all only had to go for one fitting!!! The only downside there is that there is no cap on alteration prices.

My mom got her dress from Bay Shore Bridal. I reall liked the salespeople there and the alteration women fixed her dress while we waited so we didn't have to go back a third time. I would reccomend them too.

Good luck and have fun

Re: Going to start looking for a dress

Alterations at Paradise were expensive. $80 for taking the dress out, $80 for darts, $65 for a slip, $250 to make a tulle jacket. No hem because I paid $100 extra to order it hollow to hem.
Just picked up my stuff. Took me 35 minutes because they couldn't find my veil. I went by myself and nobody helped me to the car. They also told me the wrong way to put it in which ended up messing up the dress. They told me to fold the back seats down so that the trunk opened to the back, didn't work, had to put dress on car. Bad experience.

I would stay away from bridal reflections. I did not have a good experience there. I got my dress from Priscilla of Boston.

Re: Going to start looking for a dress

I bought my dress at Burton's and they were amazing every time I was there. They made me feel so special and bridal and pretty...they really made the experience a good one.

I didn't look too many other places but from what I hear they have GREAT prices compared to other stores.

They even all stayed late after my 2nd fitting when I had lost some weight and they had to take my dress in ..b/c they wanted to make sure it fit right before I left...I highly recommend them!

Re: Going to start looking for a dress

I got mine at the Wedding Salon of Manhasset. They had a great selection, but I would stay away from them on the weekends. They get really busy, but during the weekdays when I went for my fittings there was always a bride who had the entire place to herself. Happy Shopping and enjoy it!
