any advice or thoughts? these are my first two to hit.
i'm also hitting one this weekend in jersey. TRYING to remain a LI Bride but have to appease the Jersey FH. My reasoning to him is that every event we ever have for the rest of our life will be in jersey....sound good?
My other top choices to go to is SandCastle, Russo's (cousin had hers there two years ago), and like eighty more.
Anyways...any pointers for a first time looker?!! HELP!

my advice, is ask all the questions you want!!!! i am partial to the NRC b/c i'm getting married there, but one of my best friends got married at Fox Hollow and it was really good, i personally wanted a one at a time wedding place, also i've been to Russo's and the food is amazing!!! we dealt with Ida when booking our hall, she was great!

I would say to ask, ask, ask! And if you think it's too much to ask, ask anyway! You'd be surprised by the 'extras' that you can have thrown in!

I agree with the other posters...ASK as many questions as you can. Don't be afraid to ask any question!! Even if you think they will say no, ask anyway. When FH and I picked our hall and met with the BM to talk things out, I asked all the questions I could think of. I asked for the same thing that I wanted 3 times, 3 ways and the first 2 times he said no, then the last time, he said yes!
Good Luck. And take pics. Check out the bathrooms and ask to see the kitchen! My hall did the latter w/o asking!

When you go, ask a LOT of questions, even if they sound stupid. I LOVE NRC. I'm hoping to be able to afford it,
What part of jersey? I'm actually going to a NJ wedding at Shadowbrook on Friday night. I can give a review if you'd like

ask lots and lots of questions. North Ritz is a one wedding at a time place which is really good. I here the food is good. Also check out Woodbury country Club which is right down the road from there. That is a beautiful place as well. My advice is for you to check that one first (Woodbury CC).

Re: Going tomorrow nigh to...
Thanks all.
North NJ is where we are going to look - at a place called Macaluso's in Hawthorne.
We went to North Ritz and Fox Hollow last night.
North Ritz was gorgeous and I liked how it seemed to be a good flow. Ida was good and seemed able to customize it to be a bit more italian, will let us bring in our homemade wine, etc. They were setting up for a wedding so I got to see some good centerpieces and a good DJ that had plasma tvs everywhere. Nice. I wasn't all that happy with the mismatched fake flowers for the cocktail hour. I'd like things to be uniform with my colors so hopefully I could change that. Overall it was good. Winter prices were good....but I am hoping I can get a little more out of them.
Fox Hollow prices blew me away and the guy threw in a lot of extras. I did have an experience when we walked in and I told the banquet manager (not sure if i should have but...) - one of the women who greets guests was kind of rude to a guest. they said, i'm here for a wedding and she goes, well which one...there are two tonight so i need a name (rude tone). later on, the banquet manager said something about how great the guests feel walking in, that they don't feel that there are two weddings... and i told him about what happened. he said that it was inappropriate, etc. but it really concerned me.
anyways, overall it was good...and i am hoping to get FI to get into Long Island.
