Good Christining Gift

I've never been to a Christining before and it's for my FI cousins baby. What do we get them?

How old is the baby? Is it their first? Money is usually safest -- as a down payment for the future.

I would give savings bonds to help start the college fund. You need to contact the parents for the child's SS though so it could get complicated.

A bond is best.....

I just went to a Christening on Sunday. I gave a Savings Bond. You can use your SS#, but you will need the baby's full name and mailing address. They mail the bond directly to the baby's house and give you a Gift Certificate for you to put in the card.

Yes. You can go to any bank. If you go to the one where you have an account, they just take the money directly out of your checking/savings... but if you go to one where you do not have an account, you have to pay cash.

No problem!

Just an FYI... when you buy savings bonds you pay for 1/2 of what it worth. So if want to purchase the baby a $100 bond, you only have to pay $50 for it.
