My birthday is on Friday, and my parents want to take me, FH, and perhaps a couple of friends out to dinner that Sunday.
We're open to many types of food-- preferably seafood, mexican-american, or just some good ole american-- italian is OK, my Dad isn't a huge fan though.
I know my Dad will take us where we want, but I don't want to go somewhere that is like crazy expensive.
I live in Valley Stream so I'd like to stay within a 25 minute drive. Any recommendations?

Re: Good food needed
I used to live in Valley Stream! If you want bar like atmosphere Croxley Ales in Franklin Square, a little less bar like but still a bar with good food = PJ Harpers on Rockaway ave.
Mexican, would be the little place near the LIRR across from the post office.. they changed the name since I left Valley Stream but I think it has an iguana name.
If Japanese is an option there is a great habatchi place off of Rockaway ave, on a side street just past mcDonalds on Sunrise (a little further south on the left)
hope this helps!
eta: Feel free to FM me with any questions or such!! I used to eat out all the time!!! Also, the Mexican place is a bit small, but good food!

My fav is Ayhan's Shish Kebab! so yummy. Since you're in Valley Stream i'd prob say to go to either the RVC or Baldwin one, but there's also one at the Source Mall.

Popeis Clam Bar 384 N Wantagh Ave, Bethpage, NY (just north of Hempstead Turnpike)
One of my favorite seafood restaurants I have been to. It is family owned place, and is a very casual type of atmosphere. Food is delish and not crazy expensive.
Others that are really good are:
Cozymel's - Westbury (Tex-Mex) Jonathan's - Garden City Park
ETA to add: JC Cove in Freeport!!!! FH and I love them too great seafood!!

Oh man...I friggin' LOVE this place and always have to go when I'm at the Source Mall. I didn't know they had other locations! Thanks for the info. (I'm from Queens, that's why I didn't know...and I don't have a car, just a measly MetroCard, ha!)
