Good morning all. I have been here since 7am and am none too happy about it. I'm going to Ikea today to pick up some furniture for my new place. That's why I haven't been on here in a while, I've been getting ready to move. Hope everyone has a good day and I hope you feel better Ang. Do you know what they say is the best way to relieve a headache?

Re: GOOD MORNING LADIES!!
My FMIL is choosing the show - I actually don't know what she bought tickets for - but she likes Broadway musicals, so I figure it will be Moving out. . . I think she mentioned it the other day.Quick story about that, if you don't mind:
I'm a phd writing my dissertation about political theatre and gender in Northern Ireland and the impetus behind this theatre outing is so that My FMIL and I can get to know each other better - which is great.
FMIL asked me what kind of theatre I generally see - and I told her that I generally see dramas off broaday (St. Ann's Warehouse, BAM, NYTW, etc.) I told her some stuff I had just seen (4:48 psychosis, Guantanemo, Hedda Gabler) and directors whose work I admire, etc.
So she says that she wants to pick a drama that we can all see - she specifically says Drama cause she sees musicals and wants something different. I tell her I'd be happy seeing a musical - I'm not a theatre snob - who doesnt like musicals? but she says 'no - I want to see something that is more your taste.'
so i give her a list of things we might want to see - and I was pretty careful not to include anything that was too edgy or violent or controversial. . . she asked for my syllabus (I teach Irish drama and British drama at NYU).
and she calls me the other day and says that we're going to see a musical because the shows I like are 'Pretty sick and twisted - no offense.'
No offense taken - if she wants to take us all out to the theatre, I'm totally up for it. Had to laugh though - I've never been called sick and twisted before.
Have a great day!
Deirdre
oh - there's a GREAT show coming to NYC in '05 - The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh - just read it the other day - the best british play in easily the last 10 years, in my opinion.
