since talking about 'midnight in the garden of good & evil'
I thought we could talk about books that had pretty good movies made from them..
I'll preface it by saying that the book is always better...but some movies are great...
**gone with the wind, margret mitchell **misery, stephen king **shawshank, SK **body/stand by me, SK **lord of the rings, JRR Tolkien (at least 2 books) **bridget jones
anyone else have others to add?

don't even base your idea of the book Ya-Ya on the movie, i hated the movie, loved the book. I think Princess Bride had to be one of the best renditions, especially when you think how well they matched all the actors. Lord of the Rings is also one of my faves. And I can't even discuss the Stephen King phenomenon, I think that when you read his books the visual is so strong that the movie can never compare.
