My fiance and I plan on getting married in the winter (January/February) on a Saturday/Sunday day to save money and would love to know what you folks think is a good price to pay per person. We've been looking around at catering halls and the prices have varied somewhat, but it's around $60 per person plus tax and gratuities and they're charging $750 for the 'chapel'. Do you think that is a good deal? Do you think the catering halls will go any lower than that? We've looked at places like: Chateau Briand, Inn at New Hyde Park, Jericho Terrace, etc. In addition, are the gratuities usually 20%? Your knowledge/expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Good Price for January 2012 Wedding?
gratuities are definitely 20%, but $750 for the chapel seems a little ridiculous. Mine is $450 for the ceremony, and a lot of places will even throw it in for free...definitely try to negotiate it!

A million thanks for your comments. The BM's make it seem like the prices are written in stone!

Re: Good Price for January 2012 Wedding?
we got married in January and i think 60$ sounds about right i think ours with tax ended up coming around 80/pp but 750 sounds like a lot i've heard ceremonies range from 350-600 but 750 def sounds like too much.
