GOOD PRICE FOR JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2012 WEDDING?

My fiance and I plan on getting married in the winter (January/February) on a Saturday/Sunday day to save money and would love to know what you folks think is a good price to pay per person. We've been looking around at catering halls and the prices have varied somewhat, but it's around $60 per person plus tax and gratuities and they're charging $750 for the 'chapel'. Do you think that is a good deal? Do you think the catering halls will go any lower than that? We've looked at places like: Chateau Briand, Inn at New Hyde Park, Jericho Terrace, etc. In addition, are the gratuities usually 20%? Your knowledge/expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

most places charge anywhere from 500-1000 for the wedding on site, plus you have to play for an officiant.

so 750 sounds about right.

A million thanks for your replies. Do you think $60 pp is about right for a January/February daytime wedding?

Yes, the price is right for a day wedding in January/February, it probably won't get much cheaper than that. You could probably even price for March/April day time wedding, it shouldn't cost too much more than that.

for the places you're looking at, definitely,

i'm pretty sure though that someone got a deal for 50 pp at verdis in westbury for a feb wedding...maybe courtney on here? not too sure!

Thanks for the information. The Inn at New Hyde Park was definitely a good price, but it was for a different menu with less choices. Do you think $60 pp is good for Chateau Briand for a winter daytime wedding? Is $750 a good price for the ceremony at the hall, not including the officiant? The Watermill went down to $55 pp and $600 for the chapel. Westbury Manor was $50 pp and $650 for the ceremony at the hall.

Definitely a great price.

For example, I am paying $130 pp for a Sunday eve in June, I'd expect to pay about $30 less since it's off season and another $20-30 less since it's day, not evening, so I'd expect to pay between $70-90.

For ceremony site fees I've heard from $500-1500. $750 sounds about right.

ETA: 20% service charge is standard and tax is usually on top of that
