Good Seafood Restaurants on Long Island?

Original post by StepherG

I grew up in Maine where we never had a shortage of good seafood restaurants. I find that LI has very few GOOD ones. Can you recommend any?

My FAVORITE FAVORITE is Stillwaters, in Seaford. Prices are great, food is really excellent. Not fancy, but it is on the water and the food is excellent (did I say that already??).

Riverbay and Legal Seafood are good too, but I still haven't found anything worthwhile in Freeport.

If your on the northshore, try Louie's in Port Washington. They have exceptional seafood and they were featured in 'meet the parents'.

I'm glad to hear you say that! I know the chef there very well (he's my cousin! )

It's also one of my favorites.

Gosmans if you are out in Montauk or Bostwicks in East Hampton. No one had Lobster as good as the ones in Maine though

I like Schooner in Freeport and Steve's Pier One in Bayville. It's so nice there and you can eat outside on the deck in the summertime. It's right on the water.

definitely NOT H2O in Smithtown!

How funny you say this. I was just there last week. Not only was the place crazy overpriced, but I did not enjoy the food at all. People rave about it and I don't know why.

Where are you?

There's the Sea Basin in Rocky Point and Lobster Roll out in Riverhead/Calverton area.

And then there's Land and Sea in Mt Sinai...the place has zero atmosphere, but it's so good! They have a lobster bake special where you get a big bowl of mussels in garlic and white wine, and a boiled lobster with corn on the cob and pasta or potato all for $12.95. It's so simple and so good!!! They have other stuff too, but i always get the lobster

The Steam Room or Docksides in Port Jeff.

I enjoy Sea Basin also

My DH and I were disappointed with Bedlam's food.

I'd recommend 105 Harbor in Cold Spring Harbor.

If you're looking for a very casual place, The Fort Hill Fish Market has good seafood (it's a BYOB though!)

I still have not found a good seafood restaurant on Long Island and I have been to most of the ones mentioned on this thread. However, I do find Legal Seafood to be decent.

I LOVE Blue Honu in Huntington, a haiwaiian vibe, but not cheesy at all. The Lobster tails are as big as my arm, no joke! Plus they have killer coconut martinis.

It's not a 'fish' restaurant, it's a french restaurant, but 99% of their entrees are fish. The menu is different everyday depending on what kind of fish they get that morning. It is absolutely amazing- Kitchen A Bistro in Saint James. (Don't expect anything fancy, it's a small french bistro).
