FH and I are taking Chewbaby to the doggy ophthalmologist (yes, the doggy eye doctor) this evening to check on his rapidly advancing cataracts and increasing visual impairment. We're hoping there are options besides just the very costly, very traumatic for a 12 year old dog, cataract surgery. Any thoughts you can spare would be appreciated. Thank you!

Awww poor little guy!!!
There's hope though! My dog had cataract surgery a few years back and he was GOOD AS NEW afterward. He was basically blind too!! He was like a new dog after the surgery.

unfortunately we don't have pet insurance - they denied us when we adopted him because he was already older - so it would probably cost an arm and a leg to give him back his eyes (little joke there). but we'll see!

We didn't/don't have it either. When we first got him, we thought it was so unnecessary. then he had the surgery and THEN he got diabetes (unrelated to cataracts). Needless to say, he's been one expensive pup!
