Goodbye Krappy Kitchen

Im very excited, my kitchen remodel started officially today (although we have been doing stuff about it for months). I cant wait to get home and see what progress has been made.

I took 'before' photos but it wont make any sense until the new kitchen is in place so for now:

Cooky: I love that look of your lights on the top of your cabinets! My parents had a pot shelf and they had uplighting and it looked great.

Stef: I can't believe all those people have never heard of uplighting!

Thanks Stace,

Stef...ok just for you I climbed up there to see how many lights and there are two on each cabinet! We have all that room above it because we have 9 ft ceilings and I am short so I think DH lowered the cabinets a bit so I can reach....don't matter I still can't reach!!!

Cooky: Thanks :D We are putting 3 pucks above a set of 3 cabinets ..so I guess I should of put more but its too late now. Hopefully it will look okay.

Right now they are at a bit of a standstill. The cabinet company royalled F'd up and my poor contractor has to sit on his hands until the rest of the stuff shows up. Im hoping everything will be going again by Wednesday but even with that wishful thinking, its still a week behidn schedule. Grrrr!!

PS: DO NOT USE MODERN KITCHENS & BATH...they are a nightmare!

Appliances are deliveried tommorrow (god knows where Im putting them b/c my house is just filled to the brim with various building supplies, cabinets, new doors, etc..)

Stef if you don't know where to put the appliances just call and tell them they will delay the delivery a bit. We had to do that.

My contractor told me to get the appliances (despite being on hold) so Im guessing he has a plan of what to do with them.

Oh ok just wanted to tell you because my DH still wanted to get them delievered and I was afraid they would get dented so I had it posponed and I was glad because they were bring to much building material in here and it probably would have got dented.

Did you show them the pic of the over cabinet lighting? Do they understand now?

Ok Stef, this is the best I can do with a picture I took a few but only the corner cabinets came out. We don't have our Cabinet molding on yet, my DH is doing it because I want inlaid molding so it is taking long. So it will look even better with the molding but at least your DH can get an idea. Hope it helps!

I have the same thing too!! I love it!! here is what mine looks like on one side of the kitchen..

Cooky: I didnt show them the photo b/c Im sure they would all say that b/c you have high ceilings it wont be the same. Maybe they are right...i figure I can always disconnect the lights if I hate them..but I can never put lights up there if I decide I want them after the redo.

I would def do it either way.. like you said, you can disconnect them if you decide not to use them.. You're so creative Stef, that it'll be alot of fun to decorate it and use accent pieces up on top.. =)

Stef, I have seen it done with 8ft ceilings so I am sure it will look just fine!
