for a couple that isn't coming to the wedding. I'm going to deposit it tomo and want to send a thank you card. Will a Hallmark do? What do I say in the card?

I think a hallmark card will be fine..and maybe after the wedding you can send them another thank you with a wedding pic of you guys. I think you can say 'Thank you for the gift Im sorry you cannot share in our special day' something like that..

I would send a hallmark card too and thank them for the gift and state sorry they could not make it.. After the wedding, I would send them a wedding favor!!

I got three so far and havent cashed them yet at a lost for what to say.....'hey sorry you cant come but your $$$$ is being put to great use' i think that is really nice when they respond no with a gift....i am going to make thank you cards...yeh were did i find time to do that no i am going to do it

I got one in the mail too!! I just sent a thank you card saying thank you so much for the generous gift, we really appreciate it and are so sad you wont be able to be there for the wedding, hope to see you soon etc etc

you still WAIT and just send them a thank you/picture card when you send all the rest out AFTER your wedding?
I don;t think you have to send TWO thank yous? right?

I am with you!
I got quite a few wedding gifts from people who aren't coming and we haven't sent out thank yous....
we are waiting until after the wedding to send their thank yous with everyone else...

I personally wouldnt wait until after the wedding. If I sent someone a check 2 months prior to the wedding, i would want some sort of recognition besides having the balance removed from my bank account.

I see it both ways-
maybe- DEF. CASH the check, and maybe just call and say thanks and you got the check...
but send a formal thank you later?
I send a check to a girl whos wedding I did not attend, and she waited until two mos., after her wedding to send me a thank you w/ a pic.
I guess? it depends right??
But............ CHECKS ARE A GOOD THING !!!

eta: Miss Manners says you should cash right away (as some balance their accounts by the checks they write) and send a thank you right away.

I got a few checks when we announced our enagement and i sent thank you cards just after instead of waiting until the other gifts came in.
