Got a gift yesterday

It was delivered to my house from Macy's. I don't know if it is a wedding gift or not---we haven't sent the invites out (only the save the dates)...Anyhow, it was friend a family friend (an older widdowed lady from FI's side, who I know as well). It was a Lenox Cake topper (not on the registry). Honestly, we would like to exchange it for something else. I already have my wedding cake topper--do you think she will ask why we didn't use her cake topper at our wedding??? I don't want to insult her.

Hmm - that's a tough one. It's a little presumtuous IMO to give a cake topper as a gift! If she asks, you can always say that the one you used was in the family, had sentimental value, etc.

If she asks, just tell her you already purchased one months ago or your mom bought you one for your shower (if you already had it) or something like that. Dont feel bad.

I actually made ours (monogram w/crystals).... the cake topper she got us is pretty big too- I don't think it would even fit on the cake! I'd love to exchange it now for something on our registry- but maybe I will display it somewhere else (by pictures or something?) to not hurt her feelings & return it afterwards??

I thought it was kinda a personal gift to give too- but oh well
