Got an offciant! Chose invites! Meeting DJ today!
We're meeting Ralph from High Energy today. I hope he has a great presentation, I'd rather not keep looking! So lazy.... But we're a pretty simple job. We just want music, no light show, no giveaways, no emcee, maybe a couple of announcements, like 'we're cutting the cake now!' We're not doing most of the 'regular' or standard wedding stuff, just a first dance and then everyone will join us on the dance floor and it will be open dancing the rest of the reception. No special dances. And no annoucing of the bridal couple. If our guests don't know who the woman in the big white dress and the guy with her are, they're at the wrong wedding.
And it's not like I'm changing my name, so there's no Mr and Mrs Pencils to announce.
Lots of stuff going on this week, wedding wise. Finally got our invites all worked out. Getting them from White Aisle, the Lux pocketfolds, just with a bunch of customizations. We're going to book our honeymoon this week, finally.
And, most importantly, we have someone to marry us! Rabbi Alan Stein, who is a vendor on here, I believe, although my fiance got his name as a recommendation. We really liked him. I'm not Jewish--not religious at all--but my fiance is and he really seemed to want a rabbi. If it's important to him, it's fine with me. We need someone to marry us, and if I don't have a preference, let my sweetie choose. And, as I said, we really liked him, and he seemed to get us. Or not--he didn't get us, he was totally unfamiliar with a lot of our shared interests (like science fiction, and real science) but he did immediately see that we're very much in love and very well suited to each other. So, yay, that's one BIG check on the list. Now, the DJ--there's fewer than four months left, we need to get moving on this stuff!
