Honestly, I am one of those girls who *might* spazz out depending on the situation and who you brought. IDK I'm probably the minority here but when someone brings a friend I imagine that they just want a night out drinking and eating good food and not to attend someone's wedding.

ETA: I guess if I was fore-warned that they were bringing a friend and not their significant other (for good reason) I wouldn't spazz... if it were unexpected I wouldn't be too happy

Depends how close you are with the person.
If its a close friend and you really wanna go to the wedding but would be all alone and dont know anyone, I would bring a friend. I'm sure the bride & groom would understand, and they obvs expected you guys to come as a pair anyway.

I was just saying that if the person knew nobody and was invited plus 1 .. If I ever got a call from my friend who only knew me and said 'my bfriend is away, being that I only know you would you mind if I brought a friend' I would never mind that ..

JMO Id feel bad they have to sit at a table full of strangers alone .. The bride obviously is going to be all over the place and not being able to hang out with her too much.

ITA. I'd go alone. I think that's why I get so annoyed by it, I didn't shell out all the cash so you and your friend can get dressed up, have free dinner, and enjoy an open bar. But I would understand up to a point. If someone's husband were out of town and they didn't really know anyone, that's one thing... but like I invited my friend with a guest because he was dating this girl for awhile. They broke up before the wedding and he brought his friend instead as his date. He later confided to me that he only invited her so that he could hopefully get laid later on. Gee thanks... For that $ I spent on her plate I could've just ordered you a hooker.
