Got my first response card, but this is a bit much!!

Got my first response card, but this is a bit much!!

A friend of FH replied yes...and wrote in that he and his wife will be attending...with his TWIN girls (4 months) and 3 year old son.

I never said that I didn't want children, but this is a bit too much, don't you think? I guess I should just plan on seating them at a table with extra seats??

Did you invite the whole family or did they just assume that the kids were invited too?

Nope, the invite was address to Mr. and Mrs. on the outer envelope and to John and Jane Smith on the inside.

I think that is rude for someone to do! If that happened to me I would be on the phone immediately with them to explain that the invitation was addressed to just the parents and that there is no room for children. JMO

Not to sound harsh, but I would call them and politely tell them that their children were not invited.

That was rude. Ok, the 3 year old was pushing it.....but the 4 month olds are simply ridiculous. Babies really don't belong at a wedding, in my opinion. I was at a wedding where someone brought their baby, and the baby cried a little during the ceremony!

come on, that is ridiculous. i would definitly call them and say that it is an adult reception. explain to tell that you are very sorry if they misunderstood the invitation. but there are many other children in the family that are not being invited as well. how are they going to watch 4 month old twins and a 3 year old?? do they even have high chairs at the reception hall. thank god no one did this to me. 4 months old is just too young. jmo

What is wrong with people?

My cousins have a ton (51) kids. MY FFIL told me to tell them 'Oh, ok you can bring whomever you want to the wedding... there is a $250. minimum cover charge over and above the gift. Oh, you need to hang up now and call a babysitter? Oh, ok'

My FFIL is a real character

Luckily i have my aunts and uncles support on this.

Definitely call them and tell them point blank.

Oh man. The room that my wedding is in may be too full as is. If people start responding with extras I'm going to have a real problem!! I would probably say something. Good luck!

I'm a baby, I would have my mom call and tell them sorry, no kids allowed! :)

That's insane.

It could be their first trip out of the house since the girls were born.

wow I am stunned how could anyone in their right mind even think of bringing a four month old to a wedding let alone TWINS! that is just crazy I could understand if it was a family memeber but really that is just PLAIN rude and you should have FH speak to them

yeah my (estranged) sister isn't coming to mine since she can't bring her what will be about a 6 week old along with two other young kids!

Absolutely ridiculous!!!! I can't believe some people have the nerve to do this. Now I'm a nervous wreck that someone will do this to me. If they do, I don't think I will hesitate calling them and telling them that the people listed on the invitation are the people invited- that's that. Unbelievable!

Thats what we had to do for my sister's wedding. The only kids she wanted there were the 2 in the BP, but some a few people responded with all their kids and we had to call and tell them that they couldn't bring them. IMO, it's just rude to assume.

It was even more annoying because this is what he wrote on his response card:

2 accepts with pleasure
(actually, 2 adults, 1 toddler, and 2 infants).

Can you believe it? At first I laughed, thinking it was a joke!
