got my old, new borrowed, blue--all set!!!!
My grandfather was a jeweler and he made my mom a miniature e-ring and wedding band to go on her charm bracelet. For my shower, my mom removed it from her charm bracelet, gave it to me and FH bought me my own link bracelet and had the charm(s) attached. It is a miniature version of a ring set. Next time someone obnoxious asks to see the size of my e-ring, I should show them this little charm with the little stone (and hide my real e-ring). The charm is so cute and it is all about the workmanship and sentiment! So that is my something old!
Something new--dress, shoes, veil, other stuff .
My something borrowed will be a garter from a friend of that I made through FH. Her husband is very close with FH. She was the first person to offer to loan me something for my borrowed. She wanted me to wear her veil but it did not go with my dress. SO I am wearing her garter. I'm not tossing it anyway, so I will give it back to her. It was nice to feel like she would have loaned me anything I asked for!
For something blue, it again relates to my grandfather the jeweler. He made my grandmother a pair of earrings with blue sapphires. My grandmother let me pick out a pair of earrings from her collection a few years before she died (my mom now has the rest of her jewelry). The earrings were in yellow gold but I had them dipped to white gold. They are not a perfect match with the style of my headpiece but I've been picturing myself in those earrings for my wedding for so long that, in my eyes, nothing else will look right (I tried other things on just in case).
I just finalized all of this tonight by picking up the garter and having the charm attached to the bracelet.
What else can I do to distract me until Saturday?
