FH and I went early this morning and got on line at Brooklyn Borough Hall at 8 a.m. (we were 10th in line to get in) and at 8:30 when they opened we walked in, jumped on the elevator, and were first in the room to get our marriage license. Since I went online yesterday and did the online application, we could go directly to the verification line, then to the second line to pay.
We were out of there by 8:55 a.m.!! Marriage license in hand! Yay!!!
AND, I was able to make my last name 'Maiden New' with a space and NOT a hyphen! I put it in the online application that way where it asked you for your new surname, and it was verified that way and printed that way on the license. I'm not sure how it worked but it seems to have worked out that I will have legally changed my last name to two names with a space between by marriage! I'm quite happy about that.
(My plan is to take FH's last name for daily use, but to have both names on all official documents, including my SS card and licenses.)
That's so great you got your license so quick with no hassle. Thanks for the tip regarding doing your apps online . Congrats!!

Re: Got our marriage license today!
Did anyone else do the two last names thing with the space between? I'm still slightly nervous about it, but figured someone there would've said something if it wasn't legal to do that. Two different people scrutinized the application and license!
