Got our proofs!! - VIP / Wedding World

Bit of a lesson for you when you select your package. I like my pics and John did a great job. We booked John Pagano (who owns VIP Studios) through Wedding World. I wish we had done him seperately but at the time it seemed much easier to go through one place for everything. John is a wonderful man, very helpful, does a great job. My problem is with Wedding World. We only have 200 pictures. Sounds like a lot but most are given 400-600 from my understanding when you get a photographer. Again he did a great job but with only 200 pics, hes very limited on what he can do. This is partly our fault too because we didnt give him a list of what we wanted. I have all of my family but Todd has no pictures with him and his mom or father alone. I am very upset by this because I have some nice ones with my parents. We only have one table shot of some friends and a few of people dancing but thats it other than the usual. Again, this is NOT Johns fault persay, he did a wonderful job on them, I just feel bad that Todd has no seperate ones for his parents (who are divorced so it gets a bit difficult) and we dont have many of the guests. I should have asked Wedding World how many pics I would get...but I didnt know this a year ago. Please- discuss this with your photographer. 200 sounds like alot but when you consider some are doubles (because people blink and arent looking when they should) you cut that down. If your using John, I love the quality of the pics, absolutely fabulous. On the other hand, its easier to pick the pics for our album :P

Sorry to hear that you didn't get all the pictures that you wanted. I know that must be disappointing. But I am glad that those you have are good!!! For those in the future this suggestion might help. We sat down and made a list of all the pics that we felt that we had to have. That included table shots of all the guest tables, plus all the specific family shots we wanted. Then when we went for our last meeting with our photographers before the wedding we went over the list with them and made sure that they understood what we wanted. They managed to get just about every picture on the list and we were thrilled when we got our proofs back. We had two photgraphers, we used Koala Studios, which may have helped because they were able to take different shots. Don't presume that the photographer will know what you want. They don't all take the same pictures. I forgot to ask for one of my invitation with my flowers, which I really wanted, and didn't get it. It is better to let them know.

No - do NOT accept that !!! (Long!!!)

It is not only Wedding World's fault - it is also John's fault. Don't think he blameless. He should KNOW that at the very least, you HAVE to take pictures of the groom with his parents (even if they are divorced)!!! That is inexcusable! And, 200 is NOT a lot of pictures. Reread your contract - see what it says about the number of proofs. Look at whatever notes you might have taken when negotiating with them. See what they told you. Two hundred is certainly NOT a lot of proofs! If you think about it, the average wedding lasts about 5 hours. That means that your photographer only took 40 pictures in an entire hour! That's ridiculous, considering that there should be at least 40 pictures of posing beforehand! It doesn't make sense. And, you don't have to accept that - even if the job is done. I had 750 proofs, and still, our photographer had missed some shots that we wanted. Such as a picture of me and my maid of honor alone, even though he has many posed shots of my husband with his best man. So, to rectify that, I made them take a bridal party shot, and enlarge it, and air brush out everyone but me and my maid of honor - and I made THEM pay for it. And, even though I had asked for table shots, they only got half of them. Because of that, I was so angry, that they agreed to reduce the price that I had left to pay. All in all, they ended up compensating me approximately $1200 (I had ordered many extra pages for my album than originally contracted, and they took $1200 off the remaining balance, including all the things they did for free to 'fix' the errors.) Yes, I loved the pictures I did get, but that doesn't excuse the ones they didn't get! I don't mean to get you more angry, but don't let them get away with that! You deserve some compensation, and you have to ask for it - they won't give it to you if you don't ask. Otherwise, I'm glad you like the pictures you do have. Good luck with your album.

I have to call them today..I am hoping its just a roll left out, I am going to look at the contract to see if it says anything, if not...I will tell them this is inexcusable..which it is. I havent told his parents yet so I am hoping, but I like the idea you said about airbrushing! Thank you very much!!

I actually met with John and his work was very nice. I ended up booking Mark Kauffman but have recomended VIP to a number of brides. How much did you pay for photography thru Wedding World? For $2000 John does a lot more proof and he had a ton of great albums to show. I am shocked that you only have 200. If you paid significantly less than maybe John is told to only give you 200 but under no circumstances should the groom not have a photo with his parents. That is absurd. I would call John personally and speak with him, not Wedding World. Perhaps a roll was not given to you. Please let me know the outcome.

I think Wedding World worked out to about the same price as John. We did invites and tuxes through them too so I dont really know the exact breakdown. Yes, I found out WW depending on your package does only a certain number of pics. Ours happens to be 200. Also I found out where our album will have 50, some brides only get 30. We have had so much going on here this week I havent called. I will call them either today or tomorrow though.
