Got the call... but (need help)

Got the call... but (need help)

So I got the call that my dress came in.... hmm... I ordered that dress in early January!!! It took 2 months! I was hoping that it would get in around June or so (They told me it would take 6 months). Mainly because (I think I wrote about this before) my mom made me order the dress 2 sizes smaller to make me work out (love her to death - but the mother from hell) and lose weight. So at this point - I KNOW I won't fit in the dress.

They called me to come in for my first fitting. I don't want to go in or I will be depressed about it. I haven't told anyone that it came in. So how long can a store hold a dress? Or so I not trust that? I would prefer to have a first fitting more like in 2 months. Do people do that? Do girls leave their dresses at the shop up until the wedding or would you take it home? My problem is that there is no way I could bring it to my apartment. I'd have to take it to my mom's or his mom's house... THEN ... they will know.

AHHH! Tell me what I should do...

My dress came in early as well.

I would definitely go and visit it now to make sure it's the right dress, if it isn't, you still have time for them to correct your order.

ETA: The store is keeping my dress until the wedding, I start fittings about 6 weeks before the wedding.

Good luck!

This happened with David's Bridal. I ordered at the end of January and it came in at the end of Feb. when they said it would take 3-4 months to come in.

I went and picked up the dress and I hang it in my closet as a constant reminder that I need to maintain my weight and exercise!!!

I would ask the store to hold it and that you would like your fittings to be a bit closer to the wedding date. You might want to go to the store to make sure that it is the right dress, though. Good luck!

I like your moms way of thinking. Ive been buying clothes for my honeymoon little by little. Ive ordered everything a size smaller to give me the motivation to loose weight. I would go visit the dress now (just to make sure everything is perfect) If your dress is a size that is completely impossible to fit in, at least you have time to exchange it.

Wow 2 sizes smaller???? I ordered mine 1 size smaller and I thought it was drastic...you better hit the treadmill girl! As far as holding the dress, I think most places hold it until like a week before your wedding. I would go anyway to try it on and see how much you need to lose in order for it to fit perfectly...most likely you wont need any alterations which is good...but they should hold the dress for you. Good luck sweetie

Usually fittings aren't done until 2 months before the wedding . I think now is way too early to start your fittings. The store should hold it for you until then.

I think it's a lil strange that they want to start your fittings already, you shouldn't be doing that until June (about 8 weeks before your wedding). Most stores will store your gown for you until the week of the wedding when you pick it up, I would check back with them. Except David's, if you bought it from there they don't store it.

If you have to bring it to your mom's then do that, she already knows you ordered a gown 2 sizes smaller. She'll be happy to hear that it came in.

I agree. My dress just came in but fittings won't be until like 6 weeks before the wedding (boo!) Tell them that you are losing weight so don't want to start fitting yet since there is still tons of time till your wedding. Good luck
