Does anyone have any feedback on this band? They do not showcase, but I've seen a DVD and heard a CD and they sound amazing... haven't really read much on them. If anyone has any feedback I would really really appreciate it. Thanks!

We are using the Marv Austin and Orchestra from Steven Scott. I think that they have quality people. They were great to contract with. Everything was very clear and right upfront. I attempted to contract with Hank Lane's people but it was a nightmare for me. FM if you want the details. Lisa

Re: Gotham from Steven Scott
Im so confused right now..... I need an italian american band and with gotham we were able to get an italian specialist who may I say has the most amazing voice... Gotham sounds awesome, but when I asked to see them live they told me that they don't showcase their bands.... Kinda makes me wonder, but they are good and I don't want to pass up the chance. I listened to Peter Damien another band with Steven Scott, but loved Gotham so much more.

Re: Gotham from Steven Scott
Neither Hank Lane nor Steven Scott showcase their bands. I went to about 10 other showcases and the only one that actually impressed me was Code Blue, but they were booked for my day. DF loved the Steven Scott Orchestra that we booked from their cd. I liked the Hank Lane Orchestra. I spent 4 weeks attempting to contract with the Hank Lane people but I never felt like I was getting what I was paying for so I did not sign the contract with them. I went with Steven Scott b/c the drummer of the Orchestra is my dad's friend from high school. We ended up getting a really great price and their contract was very good. As for an Italian specialist, perhaps you could ask them if they could ask another bride that they booked already to let you come for a few minutes to her wedding just to hear the music.

When I asked about going to peak at another wedding, they told me that they cannot do that. I do not remember the exact reason, but I guess maybe for privacey reasons. May I ask which band you ended up going with?

They don't let you hear them live?

No..... isn't that weird. Everybody I talk is like you should really see the band live, but what if the band is good and they dont offer a live showcase, then what do I do. Go out on a limb and trust that they will do as well as they did on the DVD. Those of you that are using Steven Scott bands, did you only go by the music CD or DVD???

I think booking from the DVD depends--is it produced or is it a dvd from someones wedding or something. We looked at a place that only showed dvds & had you listen to them and told us that even if you wanted to book a band you couldn't see them live--I thougth that was wierd I would have even be willing to go to the place where they practice to see them... we ended up not booking w/ them and went with another band that I could see live but if they come recommended from other brides I don't thik you will have a problem. I found finding a band to be the most stressful part of the process--Good luck

It was a bit weird for us too to book them w/out listening to them live. But, we ended up seeing another Steven Scott orchestra band at a friends wedding, and we loved them. They sounded just like the did on CD. So, we ended up trusting them, and booked with them.
We booked Peter ?somebody? band.

You booked Peter Damien? We listened to them..... very good, Gotham was more of my style, but I'm just nervous... it is alot of money and the band is a big part... and I agree that the band has been up to this part the most stressful. Thanks!

No, but b/c the drummer is an old family friend he and two of the other members had a mini jam session in the office for me. They were fine so I was happy. He did this b/c my dad and he know each other for almost 50 years.

Re: Gotham from Steven Scott
I would never under any circumstance book a band without seeing them live. You never know who is going to show up. That goes with any of my vendors. Especially the music! My girlfriend booked Hank Lane a few years ago, they paid a ton of money, had a 12 piece band and three of the singers were not who they heard on the CD or they were good on the CD and really average live. She was disappointed and went on their reputation. With technology today, it's really easy to enhance sound on CDs and DVDs. There's too much competition out there to take a crap shoot. JMO
