Gown Shopping

Gown Shopping

A friend of mine is coming from Brooklyn to go bridal gown shopping. Originally I had planned on taking her to Davids, Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, Commack Wedding Center, and Macy's Bridal Salon, however, now she has found three gowns she loves at Adrienne's in Islip. She already made an appointment at 10am at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place, however, now I'm thinking that since I live in Oakdale, it would be easier to start in Islip (at Adriennes) and just continue west until we reach Davids, stopping along the way at different boutiques. Does anyone have any recommendations about where we can stop along the way? She's looking to spend under $1,200 but get service of someone spending lots more. Suggestions, please!

I would recommend Reflections in Massapequa, instead of the store in Carl Place, Carl Place carry much higher priced gowns, If I remenber correctly they start at $2500 and up. The massapequa store dresses begin at $1500 (you call to verify).

You could try Lilliets(SP?) in Baldwin, but you need an appointment. There is also The Wedding Plaza in Baldwin, a block away from Lilliets. Hope this helps...

Bridal Suite of Bay Shore. I worked with Jen and really liked her a lot. She was very helpful. It was the cheapest I found my dress too!

I went to lilettes the other day. And the service was amazing. I just walked in and it happened that they had time to work with me. The girls were amazing she had me try on like 6 gowns and knew which ones would look good on my werid shaped body. I would honestly start there and then head east you might not have to go to any other stores after that.

I really didnt think they were going to be as nice and helpful as they were there especially when we walked in she was like you need to give me 10 mins and then I will try to help you. I thought she was giving me an attitude but an hour and half later I found a gown.

Re: Gown Shopping

Ok, I have a feeling she made an appointment in Massapequa instead of Carle Place now because she told me that they told her their cheapest dress was $1,200. ??? Now I'm really confused. I should have just made the appointments myself.

How about this plan? (if her appt is in Carle Place like she said...)

10 AM: Bridal Reflections, Carle Place
11 AM: David's Bridal
12 PM: Lunch
1 PM: Lillete's in Baldwin
2 PM: Wedding Plaza in Baldwin
3 PM: Bridal Suite of Bay Shore
4 PM: Adrienne's in Islip
5 PM: Back to my house in Oakdale

Is that overkill? Everyone say it together, 'YES!' LOFL. GOD HELP ME! I can't believe I did this for myself only 2 years ago. I'm clueless already!

Re: Gown Shopping

I'm more stressed out planning these two weddings than I was my own!

Is an hour enough time at each place? I know sometimes I was at a salon for hours on end trying dresses on.

No! That's why I'm so clueless!

Maybe I should just plan on going to David's, Bridal Reflections, and Adrienne's, and if time permits afterward, I can go to Macy's at the Smithhaven Mall.

Hey, at least we're both pretty laid back about everything - no bridezilla's - then again, maybe that's the problem, eh?

Re: Gown Shopping

Oh, one more thing to add to the complexity of this situation. The bride hates every wedding gown made. We went to RK and she nearly vomitted at the site of every dress she saw. So, I don't think we'll be in stores very long!

Bxgell, I don't know what I'm going to do when I have to complain about you now!

Ha ha ha... I'll have a close eye on you matron, so no complaining about me and the planning!!!

Did she really vomit at all the dresses... I can totally see it... we both hate frills, beads, puffy dresses, pearls, etc... you know I found a good designer that makes simple, elegant dresses - watters & watters... tell her to look at them online

Thank you for your feedback everyone (except bxgell!) Does anyone have any other suggestions for me?
