Gown train question...

I saw a dress that's really pretty on the internet, but it has a cathedral train. My ceremony is outside, wouldn't that be too long for an outdoor wedding? Isn't Cathedral trains for church weddings? How do they bustle it, and is/has anyone had/have a Cathedral train, and was it a pain in the butt? Thanks in advance!

I had a cathedral train

I believe the formality of the event not the location dictates the length of the train. If your ceremony is paved then I don't think it would be a problem. If you're getting married on the beach however, then I can see where it would be difficult. The bridal salon you go to should be able to show you how the train will be bustled. My train was cathedral length and attached to my gown. I didn't have any problems with it at all.

Gown train question...

Well, our wedding is just your average wedding. Nothing Black Tie or anything. We'll be getting married on the deck at the Port Jefferson Country Club. I don't mind it being so long, I just didn't want to have alot of problems with it being bustled. Can the salon shorten the train??? I think it would be hard to do that.

Gown train question...

I'm not sure if the salon can shorten the train. I recommend you try on different gowns with various train lengths and discuss with the salon just how to bustle the train. You'd be able to make a better decision. Bustling the train can be tricky. Make sure your MOH or one of your BM is with you on your last fitting. The salon can teach them how to bustle the train for the day of your wedding. Good luck!

Gown train question...

My sis had one for her wedding about 7 years ago and according to my mother, it was a big pain in the butt because of all the buttons on the bustle, but you have to wear what makes you feel like a bride and a princess! Good luck.

one more thing

I had a chapel length train and an outdoor ceremony and the bottom of my dress got filthy. As long as you don't mind a little dirt, grass and goose stuff, no one will really notice that much. You'll be having too much fun.

My train was detachable....

and I`m really glad about that, because I think the train weighed as much or more than the dress. The train and even the hem of the dress will get dirty outside. Since it rained the day of our wedding, my train was attached once we got inside the church. It was removed after we took pictures in the church after the ceremony, and I never had it on again. After the wedding, days later, we went out and had outdoor shots done in our wedding attire. Our photographer was very cautious about setting up the shots, trying to prevent any extra dirt from getting on the dress. And he also made sure to watch for the goose presents. The train was draped over my arm as we moved to set new shots, but no matter how hard you try, the train will get dirty to some extent. Will you have an aisle runner? As for the formality .. go with whatever dress makes you feel wonderful.

My train was detachable....

Well, my ceremony will be out on a deck with a gazebo. The only time I'll be out on the grass is for pictures. With my luck it'll rain. Thanks!
