Anyone know of any places that might be open on Sunday? I'm supposed to go with some of my bridesmaids but I can't seem to find anything.
RK is closed on Sundays as of last weekend.
My other problem seems to be sizing, I called Bridal Garden but they don't have anything in my size and I just called Kleinfelds, they won't make an appointment because they're having a sample sale and they only have things available in size 8 and 10 (which really pisses me off).
I need help!!!! Any suggestions?

try on the samples anyway! they clip the dress so you can see how it looks in your size. if you buy a sample you just have it fitted to you. my sister is a size 4 and bought a size 8 or 10 and it was fitted to her and looked great!

Not sure about stores, but as for sizing... brides looking for dresses aren't likely to get to try on a gown in their size no matter what they are. All of the gowns I tried on were at least a couple sizes too small and a couple were too big. Samples only come in a few sizes and stores do not stock every size. They clip you into the dress, though, so you can get a good idea of how it will look. HTH!

Thanks for trying Gina and Kara but unfortunately this doesn't work. There's an enormous difference between a size 4 and a size 18 . They can make the dresses smaller but they can't really let them out soo much. It would completely change the dress. Plus, you can't really try on a sample when you can't get it over your head.
Plus at these sample sales they are selling them straight off the rack, they're usually discontinued styles they are trying to get rid of. They don't have any size options available.
I hope this doesn't sound rude, i'm just really frustrated as a 'woman with curves'. I'm just looking for places to go with my bridesmaids and not having any luck.

YEAH I wouldnt worry about the size of the sample, if you like a dress they wont have a a sample in different sizes...They either dont zip the back or they clip it to fit you... Whatever dresses they have they will only have that one sample and you have to try it on in whatever size they have and this is with any store.

hmm yeah but with a sample sale, you have to buy off the rack so if you are bigger than the sizes they have, it might be hard to alter, like you mentioned.
You could try Wedding Atelier. I really liked that place but I am not sure what sort of sizes they sell. They are also having a sample sale that started yesterday.
Or you could try Saks or Macys? I think they should have an assortment of sizes. good luck!

size 18 might be too big but a size 8 won't be. I'm a size 4 too but there are some designers who run VERY small and I would need to order a 10. I would still try the sample sale

yeah i forgot to mention that before....You do realize that wedding dress sizes are VERY different...size 4-6 girls wear anywhere from 10-12

Thanks Jessica. I tried Macy's out here but that wasn't with the BM's. Maybe i'll see if they have anything else there. The point is really just to include them in the process. I just have to find out if we need to make an appointment.
This post is starting to turn into a should I/shouldn't I go to the sample sale which isn't really the point.
I am not going to the sample sale since I can't buy anything there. The samples won't fit and can't be made to fit me. I am soooooo not even close to a size 4-6-8. Plus I'm not the impulsive type anyway and would never just buy the dress especially not without my mother being there (since she's paying).
Let me know if anyone can think of any more places.

What about the new POB store or Bergdorff... I had a horrible experience at Saks, I would stay away!

whats the new POB store??? I'm not familiar.
I think i'm going to leave work early on Monday and go to RK. I don't know how it will be there after work but at least I can probably get there to put my name on the list before people get out of work at 5.
I called 3 more places all saying they are closed on Sunday. I finally found one place in the village open but i'm not sure. I'll probably end up just taking my girls to brunch and going to Macy's.

Oh wait forget that you mean Priscilla of Boston I think. I looked at their website but didn't see anything that was really my style. Do you think they would have more in the store? I'm not sure if its worth it.

i went on a weekday after work and didnt even have to put my name on a list and didnt have to wait on lines or for a dressing room.

oh I hear you.... I was a curvy woman when I started my gown hunt, and suffice to say, the humiliation at one shop (where the samples were all size 8-10, or about a size 4-8 in street clothes) was enough to say 'let's elope). Clipping if it's a size or 2 off isn't bad... if its more than 5 sizes, it's a spectacle, and frankly not right to do to a bride.
Go to shops with a range of sizes... try to make it to RK on a Sat, if you can. Also go to Davids bridal. They even have + sized samples.... there are a couple other shops with samples that LIW brides have mentioned in the past....
what ever happened to the 'curvaceous bride thread' (or what ever the thread title was)????

I already wanted to elope. FH didn't. This (and about a million other things) isn't making things any easier
After an exhausting search I finally found 2 places all the way downtown that are open. Now I can relax alittle.
Then on Monday back into the city to go to RK.

I went to RK after work on a week day and completely empty. It's the best time to go....don't do weekends
