Grand Hyatt Kauai - Honeymoon Review

Kauai was amazing! It was exactly what we were looking for - laid back and quiet. We wanted an island where we could do plenty of outdoor activities and that is what we found. We hiked and snorkeled and took surfing lessons and of course spent plenty of time relaxing by the pools. There are not a lot of people on Kauai which was perfect for us. We went to visit the lighthouse and went on a sunset catamaran which was beautiful. We hiked the Napali coast and also around Waimea canyon (which is a mini Grand Canyon).

The Grand Hyatt was wonderful. The food in all the restaurants was amazing and the pools and the views were spectacular. We even went down the waterslide! The spa was really nice but unfortunately the fitness room was a bit cramped. The week we left they began renovations to the spa so I’m sure they will increase the size of the fitness room and that will no longer be an issue. In hindsight, we probably should have booked the package that included the daily breakfast. The breakfast buffet was delicious, but at $25 a piece, it was super expensive. We found a few breakfast places nearby that were much more reasonable.

The weather was between 75 and 80 degrees each day. In the morning it would be damp and cloudy but by 10:00 am the clouds would burn off and it would be gorgeous the rest of the day. One morning there was a tsunami warning, but it was retracted after 15 minutes, so we were really not too concerned.

We flew first class from New York to LAX and then directly into Lihue which was very nice. I have no problem sleeping on airplanes, so the two long flights wasn’t really an issue for me.

I added a few more pictures in my photo album.
