ok, heres the sitch...i don't have any grandparents. my last survinging grandma (dad's mom) passed away in feb 2003. my mom's parents passed in 1991 and 1993, grandma then grandpa, respectively. my other grandfather (dad's dad) passed away when my dad was only 13, so obvioulsy i never met him. my question is: my fh has all but one, his mom's mom passed away dec 2003. should we have his grandparents walk down the aisle? i really don't want to do this b/c it calls attention to the fact that my grandparents are not there. he wants to at least have the grandparents were boutenieers/corsages. its not like my family doesn't know i have no grandparents. but i would rather just have the parents walk down. any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Re: grandparents situation
I have only my Maternal Grandmother and FH his Paternal Grandmother left. For me, I would have them both walk down. But, you have to do what's comfortable for you. So, if you find an arrangement that you and your FH is comfortable with, it would be best. I think you should honor them in some way, out of respect, whether it be with flowers or maybe dedicate a dance to them later in the evening where the surving set can dance together and maybe FH's mom can dance with her dad? If I can think of any more ideas, I'll let you know.

Re: grandparents situation
Oh SMM... I have a similar situation. I have no grandparents anymore (my dad's parents died way before I was born, my mom's dad died when I was 9 and my mom's mom died 3 1/2 years ago.) FH's maternal grandparents live around the corner from him and he's very close. I think we'll have them walk down the aisle (i'm not sure yet).
I don't think having your FH g-parents walk down the aisle would be bad. I mean, your g-parents would if they were here. I think it would be sweet, perhaps representative of all the grandparents who passed on, and you can mention them at the reception.
Like you said, they wouldn't be forgotten on a special day.
ETA.... I think the boutinere's and corsages would be very nice and thoughtful, and they would definitely make you feel more comfortable...and actiully that's what we're probably going to do...just have the parents walk down, and give his g-parents flowers!!!

I dont know....I tend to think these are important people in his life. I dont think i draws attention to the fact you have no grandparents (unfortunately that is something maybe of us have to face at our weddings....im going through the same situation) He would never want your mother to not walk down the isle so that no one realizes his mother has passed away (i absolutely hope that did not sound rude!!!) Ultimately....sit down with him and see what your FH WANTS. THen tell him what you want and see if theres middle ground.

I'm in a similar situation, and if FH wanted his grandparents to walk down the aisle, I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. It's not a secret that mine have passed away - but if they were here, I'd want them to walk too. I know it would probably make me a bit sad for myself, but I wouldn't want to stop him from having the opportunity to see them participate in that special way.

Hi there. I know exactly how you feel. My mother passed away three years ago. I am still honoring FH parents as they should be however. I don't think you should not have his grandparents walk down the isle just because your granparents are not there. For example my FH has two mothers!! I know, it's not biologically possible. But, his Aunt raised him and his biological mother is still in his life as well. It's hard because as much as I would like to pretend nobody exists that day because I'm missing my mother...my FH parents are kind of my parents now....what I'm trying to say is his grandparents are yours now even though you might not feel it yet. Hang in there, it's over in a few mins. and they'll feel good about how you included them.

i agree and i want to make them feel included, but if i have them wear the flowers, i feel like that is enough. thanks for all your advice.
