Hi, trying to find a remedy to cover up gray hair popping out of jet black hair (really noticeable !).. not interested in going to a salon... anyone can recommend a holistic, non-toxic dye or something that you can get at the drugstore ?
thanks

Re: Gray hair remedy ?
i have this same problem...since i was in 6th grade ..lol...i've learned to live with it but im not sure of a hollistic method of covering them up. You can get in the drugstore, semi-perment dye( i'd suggest castings colorspa i think its loreal) which has no amonia and little or no peroxide and will not change the color of your hair. Unless your hair is a true black black i wouldnt suggest using back dye as it usually comes out too fake looking but instead use the darkest brown they have. Other than that you could check and see if there were less chemicals in a rinse perhaps but you may have to go to a beauty supply store for that.
Good Luck!

If you want a no ammonia dye that lasts about a month, try natural instincts. It makes my hair really shiny too!

Re: Gray hair remedy ?
If you want a truly natrual solution, in India and some of the Middle Eastern countries, they use henna in the hair. Henna can be bought at most Indian stores. Basically it is a powder that you mix with water. (Some people mix other stuff in it like tea, lemon as well.) It makes the grey color a reddish brown color. But it is a 100% natural product with no chemicals in it.
I am sure a google search could yield more information.

One of my roommates in college had sort of a roll on stick she could use to cover her roots between dye jobs. I'm not sure where you can buy it but it worked really well for her!

Re: Gray hair remedy ?
I've been grey since I was 17. I have deyed my own hair until recently. I was deying dark brown to cover the grey for YEARS! but my hair eventually went black. I just found a stylist who lightened my hair with a non-bleach formula and I am now bronzed brown. My roots have started to coem in but it's not noticeable at all. I suggest going to a salon and paying the moey it's worth it and your hair will look and feel healthier.
