Great News!!

I found out yesterday that I am pregnant!! FI and I are soooo happy we are besides ourselves. When we told my family they couldn't be happier, but his family wasn't very happy. The first thing out of her mouth was: 'So I shouldn't buy my dress?'....Then she said nothing, she just sat there. I felt like I was 16 telling our parents. Mind you we are both in our mid 30's. and both our first baby. I was sooo upset at her reaction that I had to leave the house crying. I felt like such an idiot. Now everyone is asking... what about the wedding?? I will be around 6 mos. pregnant, and we want the wedding we planned but we really don't know what to do or even if the church will marry us with me being obviously pregnant. HELP? any suggestions? Thank you.

Re: Great News!!

congrats. I would continue on with your plans. At 6 months you won't be that big. There are dresses that will hide your belly and no one will be the wiser. Once the church part is over you can announce your news. Good luck and don't let anyone rain on your parade.

First of all, congrats to you both! What wonderful news.
Maybe FH's mom just needs a little time to adjust since she wasnt expecting that kind of news. People react very differently and their first reaction isnt always the best.
My parents had lots of mixed reactions when they found out i would be 4 months pregnant when we get married, but now they are thrilled beyond belief!

Feel free to FM me if you need to talk

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will look GORGEOUS and GLOWING on your wedding day!

And the church WILL marry you. I know for a fact that while I was pregnant and during the Baptism's for my children I was approached several times by the church with an offer to marry us.

How are you feeling????

ETA: My sister got married at 7 months. She wore a GORGEOUS dress and looked STUNNING.

Re: Great News!!

first and foremost, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

may you have a wonderfully healthy and happy pregnancy.

don't worry about what other people say. like a previous poster stated: a lot of times people express surprise in a strange way.

as far as getting married... i don't think the church will say that they won't marry you. i think that they would prefer you get pregnant after you get married. but their main goal is to have a marriage that is 'official', even if that means that the bride has the bun already in the oven.

again.... CONGRATS

Yay!!!! COngratulations! That is so exciting...you have a very exciting year ahead of you! If you have any issues at the church, you could always marry soon in a civil ceremony and then have another ceremony at the church on the day of your wedding...that way if they seem 'iffy' about it, you can tell them that you ar already married and now want to make it official in the eyes of god, or whatever. But from what other girls are saying, it sounds like the church won't have any issues with you at all...you are accepting children and getting married...everything they want us to do! Good luk with everything and enjoy this double special time!!!

Congratulations!!!

My sister got married when she was 5 months pregnant....it was her first pregnancy and she was just starting to show.....I would suggest getting an A line gown with a good skirt underneath that will poof out so it takes away from your belly. This is what my sister wore, and no one could tell she was 5 months pregnant (even though everyone already knew!!).

Her husband's church is St. Thomas in W. Hempstead, but they were already booked for the day of her wedding (they planned everything within 3 months). So they got married at St. Thomas Chapel instead.....so yes the catholic church will still marry you if your pregnant.

Here's a link to my album with pics of my sister on her wedding day:

ETA- definitely continue with your wedding plans....you shouldn't let FIL's negativity ruin your happiness!!

Congrats, I am very happy for you and FH. Good luck w/your pregnancy. I'm sorry about your FIL's reacation. Give me a break! There always has to be one that tries to rain on your parade. As far as the catholic church, they shouldn't say a thing. If they do thats crazy. Why do they even have to know???? Good luck w/everything. Keep us posted.

Re: Great News!!

most churches will marry you.....i know when my aunt was married she was prego and she had a hard time but my church ended up doing it and had no probs! i have a child and talked to my church and they said they do it...then talked to where i wanted to get married (grandparents church) they told me they dont see a problem with it...esp being that im marrying the father!
if you want to keep your wedding date....then do so! Dont worry what ppl think! Or maybe you can move it up sooner if thats possible?

congrats!!!

Re: Great News!!

Congrats! I know how you're feeling. My brother and his FW just told us that they are expecting, and the reaction has been differing and I feel bad for the way some of our family members are acting. Still, have the wedding you planned, and you will look gorgeous and it will be perfect. Good luck!

Congrats... stick with your plans.... the only thing to worry about is your dress right now.....

I have friend who is preggo and who will be BM in a couple of months- she went to Davis'd bridal and they were able to fit her according to the size they 'think ' she will be for the wedding.
