I found out yesterday that I am pregnant!! FI and I are soooo happy we are besides ourselves. When we told my family they couldn't be happier, but his family wasn't very happy. The first thing out of her mouth was: 'So I shouldn't buy my dress?'....Then she said nothing, she just sat there. I felt like I was 16 telling our parents. Mind you we are both in our mid 30's. and both our first baby. I was sooo upset at her reaction that I had to leave the house crying. I felt like such an idiot. Now everyone is asking... what about the wedding?? I will be around 6 mos. pregnant, and we want the wedding we planned but we really don't know what to do or even if the church will marry us with me being obviously pregnant. HELP? any suggestions? Thank you.

congrats! what wonderful news. I think you should continue as planned. most importantly, take care of yourself, eat right and get lots of sleep. we want a healthy bride!

My friend was in pre-Cana with a pregnant couple, so the Catholic church WILL marry you. We were in pre-Cana with a couple who just had a baby together... I don't think you have to worry about that!
You FMIL was just in shock... it's too bad she wasn't able to hide it from you when you were trying to give her such GOOD news!
When my brother and SIL told MY mom they were pregnant.. TWO years after they were married and they just bought a house... my mom was SO upset as her first reaction because she worried that they couldn't afford it. Her first thought were 'how is my son going to be able to handle all these expenses all at once?'. That may be what worries popped into her head.. and they are justified is your FH's mom is a worrier at heart. That worry will pass, if that's what it was. Now, over 2 years later, we have GORGEOUS Jordan, and my mother is in LOVE WITH HIM like no other before... and everything worked out perfectly... financially and otherwise. My mom's worries were replaced very quickly with happiness... it was just inital 'How are you gonna handle this?' that took over. That may be what it was... give her time to think about the fact that she is going to be a Grandmother! She'll LOVE it.

Congrats girl, The hole point of this wedding is you and Fh and what you want. So what if You are suppose to be married first, its 2006 and your family is whats important, your new family. Thats what matters. I think she is probably worried about what others might say. You are starting a family and if you an fh are happy who give a s*** what they think. I know its tough with families, but you know what is right for you and you do it and do not feel or let others make you feel like this is wrong. Congrats girl, and enjoy being pregnant.

YAY! Congrats! What happy news! Truthfully, at first, without thinking about it, I would've said to put the wedding on hold until after the baby is born... but after actually thinking about it.... I say go forward with the plans like you were before you were preggers! Now you have 2 things to celebrate! Just be sure there plenty of sparkling cider on hand!!

CONGRATS, THIS IS WONDERFUL NEWS. IT CAN BE HARD FOR AN OLDER GENERATION TO EXCEPT THAT TWO PEOPLE WOULD HAVE A BABY OUT OF WEDLOCK. BUT WHO CARES, YOU ARE NOW GOING TO HAVE A BABY WITH THE MAN YOU LOVE. I SAY GO FOWARD WITH YOUR WEDDING. THIS WILL MAKE THE PLANNING TIME TWICE AS SPECIAL.
