great recipe, your fh or dh will love it

DH wanted steak so i thought i'd add to it by making it with a bernaise sauce. Sounds like its harder to make than it really is...its very simple and if you have a measuring cup you can make it lol. Just thought i'd share in case anybody wanted to make something different...also made it with creamed spinach so ill include the recipe for that too, which was also very delicious and easy to make. Since most men love steak, its a way to make it a bit more fancy and impress them haha

bernaise sauce

3 tablespoons white vinegar
3 tablespoons white wine
10 peppercorns, crushed
2 tablespoons finely chopped shallots
1 tablespoon chopped tarragon
1 tablespoon water
3 egg yolks
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
Salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley leaves

In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, wine, peppercorns, shallots, and tarragon. Bring the liquid to a boil and reduce to 1 tablespoon. Add 1 tablespoon of water. Add the egg yolks and whisk, over low heat, until frothy, about 3 to 4 minutes. In a steady stream, add the butter until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper. Strain the sauce through a chinois and set aside. Garnish with the parsley leaves. Yield: about 1 cup

creamed spinach recipe

2 pounds fresh spinach, washed and tough stems removed
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup finely chopped shallots
1 teaspoon minced garlic
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup heavy cream

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil over high heat. Add the spinach and cook for 2 minutes. Drain in a fine mesh strainer, pressing with a large spoon to release as much water as possible. Finely chop and set aside.
Melt the butter in medium saute pan over medium-high heat. Add the shallots and garlic and cook, stirring, until soft and fragrant, about 2 minutes. Add the spinach and cook, stirring, just until the liquid is released. Add the cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, and cook until the cream is reduced by half, about 4 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve immediately.

Ooh, and you made it yourself...good for you! Sounds good! We've had the one in the packet (Knorr?) and it was pretty good. It's been a long time...I'll have to try this one some time. Thanks!

Aw, he's cute with his sauce. I like to add a little crushed red pepper, too!

Did you ever try to bake one of the desserts?

ive never tried the packet ones. Yeah when he said he wanted steak i looked up recipes to see how to add something to it, it seemed easy so thought i'd try it.

A little is not bad at all, he said when he was putting some in too much fell in lol

no i havent. Everytime i wanted to and dh and i went to the supermarket he always wanted all these things for dinner so i said forget it, not going to eat cake after lol. But its funny bc i was telling dh last night that next time he makes sauce we can also try and make fresh pasta bc i noticed the kitchen aid mixer has an attachment you can make pasta with. Then i said oh and i really should make cake soon. So im going to try sometime this week when we dont have a big dinner. Hopefully this sunday i can.

Yes, this recipe seems pretty easy.

Aww.

I don't have the mixer yet, but for my shower I got the pasta attachments from two of my friends. I'm going to use a Fortunoff gift card I have from my sister to get the mixer after the wedding. Can't wait...I baked my FH cupcakes last month, and a cake a couple of weeks ago using my hand mixer. It will be so much nicer when I have the Kitchen Aid mixer. I'm trying not to bake too much right now anyway...after the wedding! Oh, let me know how you make out with the pasta if you do it!

its funny bc i didnt get the mixer for my shower...i received it after the wedding, infact after we got back from our HM...it was definitely a pleasant surprise hahaha

hopefully making fresh pasta is easy lol. Ive seen when they do it on cooking shows and seems easy, mixing the ingredients is easy i guess its just about getting it through the machine right lol

Fresh pasta is not that hard but there are a few things to keep in mind. It's kind of an all day process-especially if you've never made it before. Also the most important thing is to let the pasta rest for about 20-30 minutes before you roll it out. Then it will be elastic-like and easy to roll out. It's so fun to make! I can't wait until FH and I have our own place and make pasta all day long. FM me if you need help or have any questions about the pasta.

oh wow didnt know that...thank you so very much for the tips
