Re: Greek Brides??
I have a question regarding favors? Has anyone bought their lambades/boumbounieres/stefana at Kentrikon Noufaro? I know I am definitely buying my stefana and lambades from there...But I found favors that I love which they might not have there (i am doing this whole pear theme) and I was wondering if anyone knew if I could bring them the favors that I want and have them wrap them...

Re: Greek Brides??
And speaking of boubounieres -Have you all picked your koumbaro/a? If so, how did you know and when did you ask them? I have my sister and FI has his cousin but we want someone we aren't related to to be the koumbaro.

Re: Greek Brides??
Thanks Olga. I actually know Eleni's..I went looking when my FH was the koumbaro for his best friend. She has beautiful stuff...a bit on the pricey side but i loved the way she wrapped the favors. I am not a fan of her lambades though...I will definitely check her out. Do you think she does that? Are you getting yours there? We have chosen our koumbaro. It is going to be my FH brother. I wanted it to be my best friend...who will be my MOH. FH wanted his brother. I wanted my friend for the exact reason that she wasnt part of our family yet, (unlike FH brother). But FH insisted that he wanted a guy for his koumbaro and I gave in. I actually like his brother so that isnt a problem. My MOH will baptize one of our kids, so then she will be family.
We actually havent told the koumbaro yet, or any of the bridal party that they will be in it. We finally came to a decision recently (after tiffs for a long time bec i wanted to have a small BP which wasnt going to happen though cuz FH has 4 brothers and a sister and I have 2 brothers so that makes 6 guys by default
(but I am over that now)). We still havent decided how to tell his brother about choosing him as the koumbaro....

Re: Greek Brides??
My cousins wedding just happened and they got the boubounieres there and she has had RAVE REVIEWS.we are having six and six too for bridal party (which FI doesn't want - wanted to keep it greek just the koumbaro) but i come from a family that has 21 girl cousins so that wasn't happening
We still haven't told the koumbaro yet though - FI best friend

Re: Greek Brides??
We picked FH's brother as our koumbaro. We also wanted to bring someone else into the family, but since I get along really great with my future brother in law we decided he would be the best choice. Also, I knew that it would mean alot to him to be our koumbaro. We told him a few days after we got engaged that we wanted him to be our koumbaro. We are keeping it strictly greek and having NO BRIDAL PARTY!!! I had to convince FH that it wasn't necessary. He has about 10 close friends that he grew up with and of course if we had a bp they would all have to be in it, so in the end I convinced FH that it would be better for it to be just the two of us and the koumbaro. IMO I see no reason for a bridal party....the way I see it all of my friends and FH friends will be at the wedding anyways. Less stress for me too!!!

Re: Greek Brides??
Some days I wish I wasn't having a bridal party - but I think my cousins would shoot me - seriously I think they would. No I'm seriousI'm the second oldest girl of the 21 females (Minus the 8 who are WAY older than me and we were all too young to be in the bridal party) So I just capped the age limit and everyone seems to be ok with that

Re: Greek Brides??
Our koumbaro was my husband's best friend...who he grew up with. He is a great guy. My husband called him a few days after we got engaged and asked him.

Re: Greek Brides??
as he should lol just kidding
Now another koumbaro question - I know they pay for boubounieres, lambathes and stefana and the tray - but as a bride and groom do we get any say?

Re: Greek Brides??
I know I am getting a say
When I was my cousins koumbara I chose her stuff with my mom and she didnt care ( i guess bec she knew i would pick out nice stuff). But I have a exact idea of what I want, plus I want stefana that most places dont have many of, so I am definitely going with him. When my FH was koumbaro for his best friend, I know the bride went with him to pick them out.

Sweet! I trust his taste but I definetley want a say in the stefana - I don't think that is an issue though.

Re: Greek Brides??
My koumbaro bought the favors on his own in PA. They were ok but not really something I would have picked. Thankfully, for stefana and lambathes, he came to NY and we went with him to pick the other stuff out.My brother is a koumbaro for his best friend's upcoming wedding and I called the bride to see if she wanted to come with me to pick the stuff out. She opted not too but I think (especially, if you are having only a koumbaro), you should go.
Good luck!
