Re: Greek Brides??
The Nouna & Nouno are not required to buy an icon for the Christening, they are only required to buy the baby's clothes, oil, towels & sheets (to be used in the church), martirika, the cross of course & boubounieres. I might be forgetting something, the last time I baptised a baby was years ago, my Goddaughter just turned 6!!! And she's sooo mad that I'm baptsing another little girl, when she found out she said and I quote 'It's not fair, you're suppose to be only my Nouna!'.

Re: Greek Brides??
I don't see why you shouldn't be able to give an icon when the baby is born. I think it is a great idea. This reminds me that I have to buy my godchildren their candles for easter.

Georgia, I see nothing wrong with getting the baby an icon, but not the cross, you should definetly wait till the Christening. FH & I are baptising a baby together this upcoming June, when she was born in December we went to a Greek jewelry store & got her one of those pins that have charms hanging from it, we got a mati & a little gold icon w/diamonds in it, along with a few smaller things (an outfit, stuffed animal & a silver bank). Hope this helps...
That is such a nice idea - I love it!

Hi Deby/MarcellaYou must be so excited. Have fun and try not to stress too much. My only recommendation is if you have time go for a massage the day or a few days before the wedding. It did wonders for me.

Re: Greek Brides??
In regards to band recommendations for Greek weddings my fiance & I (He's Greek, I'm Italian) are having VOICES (with Angelo Venuto singer of L'italiano & Ti Amo, Carmelo & Sal Venuto all formerly of The Caleps) as our band. They are the 3 main singers & musicians from the now retired band once known as The Caleps. They are absolutely fabulous!! They do all kinds of music from Greek to Italian to Latin to American music flawlessly. They play it all! My fiance even says that they play most Greek songs better than the original Greek singers do lol. And somebody mentioned that they cost over $8k. I just wanted to clarify that price sounds a little off. We are paying just a bit over $6k for Voices to play at our wedding. If anyone needs the number here it is: (718) 259-1844 or (718) 259-6922. Their email is [email protected] but it's probably best to call. Hope this info helps some of you! Best of luck & congratulations to everyone!!

They have a website - www.mylos.com -
Friends of FH's used them about three years ago. They liked them - I think it is a husband wife team.

Re: Greek Brides??
I heard if they have more than one affair booked they hire other musicians to fill in who aren't as good. Please understand this is only what I heard. When I saw them a couple of years ago they were good.
