We're having a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony on Saturday, and my SIL is our Koumbara. She has gotten the crowns, but her aunt mentioned that she was supposed to bring some sort of oil and/or wine as well. Does anyone know about this?

Re: Greek brides - Koumbara question?
I had a GO wedding and my koumbara did not need any oil or wine. She bought the candles, silver tray w/almonds, and the crowns. The church gives you the wine.

Thank you! She did get the candles and almonds as well. But she was confused about the wine!

No wine or oil is needed to be brought by the koumbara for a wedding ceremony.
Maybe its being confused with a baptism - there a godparent has to bring the oil.
