I just found this website... They sell favors, stefana etc... u can get some ideaswww.portara.com
Is this the place on Francis Lewis? If so, I went there a couple of weeks ago and bought my friends stefanothiki from there. The lady ws very nice and she makes some gorgeous stefana. Anastasia's on Northern is good oo.

Re: Greek Brides Thread
hi girls,my fiance and i thought of a question this weekend, i was thinking that alot of you girls would know the answer:
if you are baptized greek orthodox, do you then have separate ceremonies where you receive the sacraments of holy communion and confirmation? (this is what is done in catholic church)
my fiance told me that he never had holy communion in second grade and confirmation in seventh grade like i did. he only got baptized as a baby. we were wondering if this is this normal in the greek orthodox religion.
thanx for your help!
(also, i know some of you guys are having a mixed italian greek wedding like me, Were you able to find a band that plays italian and greek music? if not what are you doing?)

Re: Greek Brides Thread
In the GO church, when we are baptized, we also receieve our first Holy Communion and we are confirmed. So it is three ceremonies in one!!

Re: Greek Brides Thread
This may be tacky- but how much is the suggested donation for your church/fees. The church that my DH and I were planning on getting married at are charging us $500 for member ship fee, $125 for organist, $50 caretaker fee and a donation to the priest on top of that. We also have to pay for our koumbaro's membership fee because he is 19 and considered an adult and requires his own membership of $500. Our koumbaro can't afford that cause he doesn't have a job. So we are looking at $1200. Is that crazy?? That's alot of money for us. I think I may have to look elsewhere for our ceremony. If you feel uncomfortable posting please FM. Thanks.

That's crazy..
My church charged $365 when I booked in 2004 and another $365 for 2005.. I was SO pissed... ugh
I would go to the Greek church in corona that charges $100 to become a member get a receipt and bring it to the church that wants to charge you $500. Then see what they say.
What church are u getting married at?
