greek girls

we just setup the appt with the priest for next wednesday. He told us to bring in FH baptism papers. Do we need anything else?? Are the membership dues due at that meeting?

And, silly question, but do we both pay to become members with the membership dues?? Our dues are $365 a year......does that cover both or individually??

being greek is expensive.

I hear ya!

When we met with the priest, all we brought were FH's baptismal papers. We didn't pay the dues right then and there, but we know we should at some point!

I believe the dues cover you as a couple. We only submitted 1 check last year for the both of us.

Re: greek girls

when I paid for the 2 years ago, it was under my name individually.

I feel dumb asking 'hi is it per person' because then hes going to get into the whole 'you have to give back to your church, donate to your community, etc' schpeal and I don't feel like hearing it...lol.

What if you asked the secretary? Sometimes I call/email and just ask her questions rather than the priest.

u shouldnt feel dumb. church is a business, just liek anything else.

usually its 1 membership for the couple. i know st. nicks is CRAZY and wants individ memberships PLUS 1 combined. and they wont hold your date until $$ is given.

do not hesitate to ask.. and ASK FOR A RECEIPT

i think the dues are per person...... maybe once youre married they wont be? idkkkk call the secretary she could tell you....

why does he need the baptismal papers the day he comes to your house? regardless, i think thats all you would need to give him

Re: greek girls

Ok when I went, I brought FH and my koumbara. Koumbara & I brought our baptismal certificates to show we were baptized Greek Orthodox, and FH brought his that shows that he is Catholic. Koumbara and I had to pay church dues (I forgot how much, like $350 each) and FH had to pay a $350 'donation' since he cannot be a 'member'. Then the priest sat with us and asked some questions like how long have we known each other, how long have we been together, do our families get along, etc etc. He also lectured FH about how we are supposed to bring up our kids Greek Orthodox and how none of FH's family can ever be a godparent to them, etc etc. Just basic stuff I guess.
