Greek Orthodox

My fiancee and I are both Greek Orthodox and are wondering if it is possible to have an outdoor wedding.

Has anyone ever been to an outdoor Greek Orthodox wedding, or know if a ceremony can be done outside the church?

the ceremony has to be done in the church, the arch bishop will not allow the priest to marry you outside the church..i only know this because I am converting.

Did you already meet with the priest about converting?? I had questions that I wanted to ask him before I made up my mind, but we haven't had a chance to set up a meeting.

One of my major concerns are our kid's god parents. I know one of the god parents must be greek orthodox, but can the second god parent be non orthodox and included in the ceremony (although i'm sure the church won't recognize them).?????

hey
yes me and my fh are gonig to bible study-for God parents only one has to be greek like if I wanted to do my fh sister and husband as my Godparents it would be ok as hes not greek orthodox, and he would be recognized

-let me know if you have any questions. I know more about the religion than my fh family does lol

Re: Greek Orthodox

can you wear a strapless wedding gown?? (that may be a silly question).

And I didn't want to wear a blusher (a veil over my face). Is it mandatory to wear a veil over your face walking down the aisle???

you cannot get married outside the church

you can wear strapless gowns and do not have to wear a blusher (although in strict churches they *may* ask you to cover your shoulders but so far all of the ceremonies i have been to there were strapless gowns)

as far as the godparents go, i know at least one must be greek orthodox

Re: Greek Orthodox

okay, so we spoke with serveral priests and it is true the church will not recognize a wedding done outside the church.

now for the second question.... is it possible to have a civil service and then a small/short service in the greek church the following day?
