Got a question??? have you ever heard of a greenback party??? I was talking to my boyfriends mom and she is going to the bridal shower for his cousins fiance…and on the invite it says green back…so that means she is requesting that you give her money…she said she has everything she needs she just wants money to pay for the wedding and this is aceptable…to just tell people to give you money….
OK so this is the most rediclous thing her and I have ever herd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who has herd of this before?

Wow!! That isnt very subtle at all!!! I dont think I like the idea of that!!! it is one thing to spread the word when people ask,, but to say that you want money in that fashion isnt sitting very well with me! JMO

Never heard of that term but i have seen in invitations ' in liue of a bridal registry we would prefer financial donations' which sounds a little nicer but i still dont like. A gift is a gift and although we all would prefer money i think its more of something that should be spoken and not written.

I know FH and I would prefer money too since we’re going to be moving overseas but people LIKE giving presents instead of just forking over cash. We’re just planning on having a normal registry and eating the cost of shipping anything we get over.

never heard of that, it's pretty ballsy ..hmmm wonder where they get that it's totally acceptable. I think people feel very insulted by seeing that on an invitation, and also feel a lot of pressure when they know the bride won't be happy unless she receives money. You can make a $25 gift look a lot nicer than $25 in card, not everyone can afford that much and i just think it's unfair to expect that!!!! I think if you have all your essentials and don't need much you can still always register for DVD box sets, maybe a new digital camera??? Things that are fun and different, and people would understand that you have a lot.. and you could always have your BMs pass along that there wasn't much you wanted to register for because you have so much already, and that the bride and groom would appreciate some financial donations so to speak.

I was just thinking—they even have stock registries anymore! IMHO, that’s a much better way to ask for money than just asking for cold hard cash.
