Greenie's question of the day:

Greenie's question of the day:

Have you ever said you're sorry to end a fight, even when you knew you weren't wrong?

I'm very stubborn and proud, but I have done this before. But only with family and DH. Never with friends.

I'm all about talking it out like adults, but so many people I've met would rather b*tch about it and hold a grudge, than have a conversation to fix it.

I'm in this situation with someone now and I'm questioning the strength of a friendship that can be so easily thrown away due to one insignificant incident. One incident, after years of 'friendship'.

Anyway, what say you? How do you handle apologies?

not really. I'm def not the type of person who backs down. If I know for SURE that I am right, I stick to my guns. DH and I both admit when we're wrong. that has never been an issue for us.

if I had an argument with a friend who kept harping on me being wrong (and I wasn't), I would probably say 'see ya!'

I don't have time for BS

I only apologize for things I said or did during the argument (even in being 'right' you can do and say 'wrong' things) but I never apologize if I don't really mean it...b/c then I resent even feeling the need to do that, ya know.

especially in this situation, I would NOT apologize to 'fix' things. sometimes these things happen for you to see what is going on...within any relationship, and assess if it's a good/healthy one for you.

i am extremly hard headed.
i can hold a grudge to the grave.

probably the totally wrong person to post on this thread. but No - i never apologize for things that i do not do wrong. if you feel the friendship is on the outs - than it probably is. people change and sometimes we dont always like what they change into.

hth - fm me if you like.

No. I never apologize if I am right.

But this is what I might say/do if it was a friend.

'I am sorry you feel that way or I am sorry you think that... BUT this is how I feel, etc... so let's just agree to disagree'. So while I appear to be apologizing, I am really not.

This question is waaaay too deep for a Monday. It's more of a Wednesday QOTD.
Can you ask something that makes me think less?

Re: Greenie's question of the day:

I'll say something like 'I'm sorry we had a fight', meaning that I feel bad that we let things get between us and spoil our good times together. To say that doesn't mean 'I was wrong, you were right'; I feel that I can say that and still hold onto my beliefs.

Most fights with DH are due to miscommunication and end in us talking things through and then the both of us saying I'm sorry, that we both accept our wrongdoings and will work to make things better for 'us' in the future. When we fight it's not about the you vs. me as much as it is about the 'us' needing some mending.

yes - I am a pushover. I can stay angry for about 5 minutes, then I get bored of it.

hmmm....depends on the crime. sometimes i can hold a grudge FOREVER. other times, i'm over it in minutes.

but apologize when i'm not even wrong....nonsense.
