Greenpoint/Williamsburg prices ARE FREAKING INSANE

FREAKIN RIDICULOUS! DH and I currently rent a 1 BR for $1600/month, which for this 'hood is an average amount. The area is OK.. nearby to some cool restaurants/shopping, but it is NOT ALL THAT. There are no amenities like a movie theater, large supermarket, etc. The waterfront area (3-4 blocks away) is full of abandoned burned down factories, but the City plans on developing high-rise luxury condos beginning this coming spring. GREAT!!!

I am looking at RE listings of new developments that are going up in our area.... I CANNOT BELIEVE THESE PRICES... ALL OF THESE ARE IN CONTRACT TOO!!!!!!!!!!

Keep in mind-- These are examples of APARTMENTS (NOT HOUSES) NEAR THE FRIGGIN B.Q.E.!!

North 5th St. - 2 BR, 2 bath, 1280sq ft - $659,000
North 5th St. - 2 BR, 2 bath, 1280sq ft - $825,000
North 5th St. - 0 BR, 2 bath, 1488sq ft - $575,000
North 5th St. - 3 BR, 3 bath, 1917sq ft - $1,090,000
North 7th St. - 1 BR, 1 bath, 830 sq ft - $625,000
North 7th St. - 1 BR, 1 bath, 830 sq ft - $595,000

***falling over, losing hope of ever owning in Brooklyn***

its crazy what they are asking for some of these places my cousin bought in greenpoint 10 years ago and his property value has gone up like 6 times what he payed. dont get discouraged you will find something just keep looking

I hear ya!! I am in the Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill section and there is no way that we could ever own here. Sometimes I feel that I am better off buying in Manhattan.

Strange to say!! Brooklyn is becoming outrageous!!

its crazy what they are asking for some of these places my cousin bought in greenpoint 10 years ago and his property value has gone up like 6 times what he payed. dont get discouraged you will find something just keep looking

That is one lucky b-stard LOL!! My grandmother grew up here and used to pay $40 for rent!

I know I keep joking.... if we ever DID get an opportunity to buy here, what is the point if you're sitting on the floor eating ramen because you can't afford furniture or food LOL

This is so true!!! It is so funny to tell Long Islanders that Brooklyn is too expensive!! That look at you as if you have seven heads. I am going to miss Brooklyn when I leave as well.
